We should change the definition of "Regular" to "Occasionally post in the Wi/Ht? in the past year or two" since the regs never want to prune the list with outvotes.

haha true! I feel that there are about 3 users who should be removed from the list due to not posting in months. I do my job when i cast my one out vote, but the rest of you need to use the damn thing once in a while. There are a few on the list who i haven't see make a post in over 6 months!

Well, what would meet the definition of inactivity? Two Three months of not posting warrants an out-vote? Cause you could just go through any regular's posts and see if they have been active or not within a certain period of time... Just sayin...

I agree, the outvote cast needs to be used more often, especially when some users have been inactive for several months now. I won't name anyone but if you have a look at the list, you can see who haven't been active lately. I really don't want to make outvote mandatory like Xiivi had to do for a while but I think it's necessary. I'll give the regulars another month and if the exclusion votes are once again only used by a few people, I'll make them mandatory on the next update or two.

I wouldn't take it to harshly. These are the rules that everyone agrees to and they knew if they didn't help out or post in the Wi/Ht? they might one day get removed. Personally, I think the person(s) who should be removed could careless if they're on the list or not. If they did, they would at least stopped by and said hi or something.

Just remember that forcing the Regs to outvote someone is really, really last resort and is just forcing the Regs to do some pruning that had should have done a long time ago.

Again, it's not something I like to do but most aren't even using their outvotes. We only had two outvotes this update and what I'm thinking of doing is putting a large note on the PMs asking them to consider who hasn't been active for a while now and outvote them. If the outvote results still look poor, then a mandatory outvote for the March update may be needed.

Just thought as a user who's become more inactive than they would've liked I'd toss in my two cents regarding the prospect of mandatory outvotes. I reckon it might be a better idea to maintain the current system but also to send a PM to all current Regulars regarding them being on the list, asking if they wish to remain on it. This would also mean they feel they are merited their place through being a useful presence in the forum as opposed to being an inactive user just taking up a place on the list for the sake of it.

Obviously if they were removed, then they could be voted back on at a later stage. I just think it's a better idea than mandatory outvotes. I mean, I am a lot less active than I was before; however I spend much of my time lurking as opposed to posting. In addition, there seems to be a lot less questions being asked in the forum these days, as opposed to last year when I was voted on when you could get 3-4 "how do I B/P" type threads a day, so unless I'm just on at bad times I just don't find myself needing to post, thus I appear to be completely inactive, and possibly an outvote candidate under mandatory rules, yet I still feel I can contribute to the forum positively when needed.

Just my thoughts anyway.

Heh, I think the time for that has passed. Eight people voted and only two cared to take time to look over who was inactive. I think you should name some names in your PM or do what Rohan suggest and ask them if they wish to retire for the time being.

I picture the Regs as a more fluid list of who active at the moment and not who was here but left years ago.

Well I don't see regulars as just having to answer questions. They can be active in the LUL the Medal Thread or be proactive in the Evolution thread too. They just have to be generally helpful in this Forum I would say. I'm sure that anyone who has a desire to stay on this list, like you, TPM, etc., will stay there. It's not like there is a push for some accountability; "How many questions have you answered this week?" or "How many noobs did you educate?"

Congrats to Dingo! I think you'll make a great addition to the regulars list. Watch out for him climbing up quickly in the stats updates, he does a lot of b/p.

I really don't think that the out voting needs to be mandatory every month, but I really think we need to take a look at who hasn't been active in the last few months. It's really not that hard to check everyone's post history and see if they have been posting or not!!

I know there's a lot of time when it might be hard to post in the Wi/Ht, since people tend to jump very quickly on responses, but sometimes it comes in waves and you just end up being there at the right moment. I know I spend a lot more time lurking then I do posting.

Again, it's not that difficult to look at someone's post history...

Anyways, Happy New Year to everyone, and thanks for the update Bahamut, I now how hard it is to keep track of people's stats and make a nice list.

Well, if someone is inactive and wishes to may removed from the list they can just ask to be removed. Sending PMs to the most inactive regulars may not be a good idea. I know that sending some kind of "warning" PM to each person who receives an exclusion vote sounds good, and I'm not saying this is a bad idea per se, but instead of looking for other solutions, we should stop being lazy and do the right thing which is to cast our outvotes :P

And yeah, I remember that this forum was much more active in the past, when I made it to the list. I remember that I literally pressed F5 every five minutes or so to check for new threads, and most of them were easy questions. Now I'm not as active, and whenever I see a thread I realize that Dingo has already posted on it :/

Yes they are very informative and I'm sure that is why he was voted in. The length of a post doesn't really matter though. I understand that they are probably positively correlated, but there isn't causation. A long post doesn't mean a helpful post and vice versa. :P

I've been pretty inactive for a while, I just properly resigned in September since I felt it'd be unfitting to leave just two or three months on from my initiation so I put it off.

I never said it would have been mandatory every month. It would have been just for a month or two depending on the outcome. There could be a month where all regulars are active and it wouldn't be fair for someone to have to outvote someone, even if s/he is somewhat active. However, it's obvious that's not what the overall activity is like now. ;)

I've not been overly active on the forums or site but that's mostly due to personal reasons, but I would rather like to stay on the list, I do come by every so often and when I don't have uni work to do.

Hi guys, rec' d the pm from Bahamut about inactive users and pretty much no out votes. I've already pm him my suicide letter to remove myself from this listing until I get more free. In the process of moving and I will be without the internet for some time (unless my wireless adapter can pick up an unencrypted signal). Also my job filters go in and out. Sometimes I can sign in, sometimes I can only view. Sometimes I can play games, sometimes I can only post. Really have no idea when I can and can not sign on newgrounds until I try. (But for some reason I can sign on to runescape just fine ...... don't shoot me, I know ). And by the time night time comes, just too tired to do any thing but deposit and head to bed at my current residence.

Sorry for the inactivity as well. Not to create a sob story here but these are my three main reasons for not posting much the past month or so:

1. Switched from Verizon to Optimum Online - Having miserable time getting strong enough signal from the wireless router to connect.
2. Holidays and family time
3. Job interviews and final exams

Once I return to school, I'll get back to posting! Funny how I actually have more free time during school than during vacation...

Or, I forgot to mention that Star Trek Online is coming out soon, so my activity might drop once again, Open Beta tommorow, I'm sorry, I'm a bit of a Star Trek fan.

The voting election for February 2010 has begun!!

A fair amount of people replied to my PMs earlier this month and I appreciate all the replies I've had so if you did reply to me, I'm very grateful for it. As for this election, we might have a second addition to the list but that depends on how the results handle this time around.

I got my votes in early this month, although I found it quite hard, most of the people I can think of are already members or have been members in the past.
