the Opening ceremony was a sham. I still say they should have had David Tennant dressed as the Tenth Doctor light the olympic torch. I wont even bother with the closing.

Christ you lot are killjoys. I'm entertaining it myself. Maybe I'm just low maintenance and enjoying the memories with everything.

Your high standards kind of make me sick, you couldn't coordinate your own head out of your ass yet you would criticize a marvelous performance by the UK's ceremony coordinators and directors. I for one, thought it was a wonderful performance and I enjoyed it more than the Chinese ceremonies mainly because I don't find uniformity as appealing as well flowing historical pieces (at least concerning the opening).

but no, I can't have an opinion, the hell am I saying?

But I never said anything about the opening ceremony, which one of the greatest things I've ever seen. I watched it on a big screen in a pub, drinking a pint. Could I be more British about it?

My favourite part of the opening ceremony was the industrial bit with the factory towers and then forging the rings. It kinda, well not 'fell apart' I just didn't enjoy the rest as much as that. Felt like I had dessert before dinner. Or something. The rest didn't live up to the beginning for me so I couldn't enjoy it completely.

I'm probably enjoying this more cause I'm an old fucking fuck and its playing all my jams. Annie Lennox! You cannot NOT like her Otto :(

Though they should have told George to fuck off with his new song. Just sing Wham stuff or classic George, not new shit he wants to promote.

At 8/12/12 05:29 PM, Otto wrote: The closing ceremony's not as bad as the bit I glimpsed at was. I'll watch it in one go tomorrow when I'm less tired.

What is fucking dull though is all the 'facebook comedians' come out to act like it's twitter and give a full commentary

I avoid all that shit. I didn't even want to come on NG for fear negative comments would ruin my enjoyment.

The pixel things look good tonight. Also idk, I just love the Union Jack in the middle and all the nations inside the parts, plus playing Imagine with the world (well world athletes) listening feels kinda special to me. Like it might mean something.

First one-and-a-half hours were pretty boring for the most part. Then some decent music came along and now it kinda sucks again...

Opening ceremony was definitely way more enjoyable, but that was to be expected I suppose.

Oasis (Beady Eye fu Liam). I am done. Back to the glorious 90s thanks to that and the Spice Girls. And Wonderwall always makes me feel like crying. Everything else is just gravy now for me.

Could? We already did, but that was years ago and takes far too much effort.

Thank you to everyone involved with London 2012, I've had a fantastic fortnight and I'm proud to be British. Yes, usually for political reasons, I say that I'm English, but team GB has made me proud once more. I'd say that we certainly lived up to expectations give to us from the Beijing Games and Rio is going to be one heck of a party in 2016.

Just 18 months to go until the Winter games in Sochi. I wonder who will feature there for both Team GB and overall.

Yeah, for me that was actually the highlight of the closing ceremony. Gave me the chills.

Also liked The Who at the end and a few other bits (Pinball Wizard, Wish You Were Here, I Am The Walrus covers, Brian May...).

Pinball Wizard is probably going to be the theme song of the paralympic games

He didn't sound brilliant I'll be honest. It wasn't classic 90s Oasis of course, his voice has gone a bit. Still one of the better performances imo, especially with the crowds singing along.
