Very happy for the US gymnastics girls on their first gold since 1996. Sure made up for their embarrassing loss in 2008.

I don't think he cared for Volleyball anyway.

Michael Phelps lost yet another race. LOL!

I really don't get it. Dominating every race 4 years ago and now he gets beat in every final (or he barely qualifies for it). I know, he's "4 years older now" and stuff, but Ryan Lochte is 4 years older as well (and older in general than Phelps). So why is Phelps so slow for his standards now?

Anyway: Quite a good day for Team Germany today. 3 medals in equestrian, one medal in canoe slalom and one medal in Judo. Very nice!
On the other hand: Lisicki and Kerber lost against the Williams sisters and it doesn't look good for Goerges and Gronefeld against Makarova/Vesnina.
Third round in women's single matches: Venus Williams against Angelique Kerber. My prediction: Venus wins. Also: Lisicki against Sharapova. I really don't know who I should root for here. I want Sharapova to win the tournament, but at the same time I want Lisicki to have a good tournament as well. Hm.

These are less interesting than bum-fights, why don't we televise those for the world to see, and we have representatives from each country join in, but they have to have been homeless for at least ten years.

Finally a gold for Phelps, maybe he won't get four but he still should be able to rack up few more. Granted he slowed down but keep in mind he's still among the top swimmers, just not the top like he was four years ago.

Magic number twenty is close by.

There's still Victoria Pendleton although she's getting older so her performance may slip.

Tiny Little Chinese Female swimmers DO NOT swim faster last laps than Huge Muscle Bound American Male swimmers, unless of course!!!

They don't cheat or use well masked drugs do they? It's not like they've ever done it before. OH! Wait a minute.

I see a big doping scandal in the near future.

Well, in order to know why, you would have to follow a little bit of what he has been doing for the past 4 years. You'd figure training for the next Olympics, right? Well, no. Instead, he decided he would announce retirement, then get caught smoking a bong (yeah, a fucking model for bright young athletes every where smoking weed, lost tons of my respect, right there), then got forced out of retirement and started to train for the Olympics 9 MONTHS BEFORE THE QUALIFIER. Needless to say, he's been getting his ass kicked and only been saved because of how massively talented he is. However, he still got to become the world's most decorated Olympian, which honestly, he still deserved. I mean, he fucked up, but I think he should do this Olympic, retire honorably and maybe go teach kids by the pool how to swim or something like that.

Ah, and Yurgenburgen, you are, as of now, being ignored by me with the use of the GreaseMonkey Script, Hush!. The reason being, well, you're hateful, rude, disrespectful and arrogant, well even more arrogant than most people, including me. I don't care if people disagree with me, I don't care if you have different opinions. But I DO care about respect, yes, even on an anonymous online forum, I care about respect. So with all do respect, I bid you a hardy farewell and wish for you to fix that personality of yours. Good bye, for the last time.

Sincerely, Hollow.

Oh yeah, and go USA Women's Gymnastics. Good job on the Gold.

And I thought some poor guy had to apologize in front of the whole team, because he said "Phelps doesn't do much training anymore".

Oh well, I never liked Phelps (he's an arrogant prick) and I would much rather see Lochte with 15 gold medals.

On an unrelated side not: I'm really sad that Birgit Fischer isn't at the Olympics. Just look at her record. She won her first gold medal 1980 in Moscow, and her last gold medal 2004 in Athens. She was 42 at that time! And the only thing that kept her from winning a gold medal 1984 in LA was the fact, that all the eastern states (inculding GDR) didn't participate at all in those.
Also, she stated once, that she might be at the next Olympics. But mabye not starting for Germany, though.

I don't. The girl was the reigning world champ, and what nobody is mentioning is that Lochte's last 50m was shit. Rebecca Adlington swam a faster last 50m coming 3rd in the 400m freestyle than Lochte did for christ's sake! She has passed every drugs test going, and I think it pathetic that a US coach feels the need to call into question that victory just because she was better than anyone else! I am sick of people immediately assuming that if you win something you must be cheating- Bradley Wiggins was accused of as much in the Tour de France as well, as obviously the race is impossible to win unless you are doping...

I am sick of people immediately assuming that if you win something you must be cheating- Bradley Wiggins was accused of as much in the Tour de France as well, as obviously the race is impossible to win unless you are doping...

The thing is: The drug tests aren't positive with the newest of the new drugs. The people who develope those drugs are always one step ahead. And... well, Swimming, Running and the Tour de France all have a huge history of doping cases Just think of the girls from East Germany, who where doped with testosterone (most of the time without them knowing what they where taking). And if you see a guy sprinting up the Pyrenees (like Michael Rasmussen) as if he just started his race today, while others are already at their limit... well, then it's only natural to assume, that those guys are doping (or being doped. I think sometimes the sport persons don't even know what kind of drugs the docs are giving them). And if you see, how many of the cycling guys claim to have asthma (you can take different kind of drugs that help you with your breathing if you have asthma), then there just HAS to be something fishy about it. I don't think that only people with asthma like to cycle. ;)

I WANT to believe that everything is clean and fair in professional sports, but I just CAN'T believe it. And if I see Michael Phelps dominating EVERY race 4 years ago, swimming three or four races on a single day... I'm sorry, I just don't believe this is possible without doping.

Gob :(

Also am I the only one who thinks that the Chinese and South Korean duos should be disqualified from Badminton due to their very unsporting behavior by both trying to throw the game in order to get a better draw? Really insulting to the audience and to the dignity of sports imo.

Don't get me wrong here, I am not stupid enough to think that everyone is clean. What I object to is accusing people with no evidence just because that person happened to win. The Yanks would be in uproar if someone accused one of their swimmers of being on drugs with no evidence to support it. If she ends up failing a test in the future fair enough, but to go around accusing anyone that breaks a record or a PB is pathetic.

It's sad that some people think that winners must be cheats. While some no doubt are, a lot of them aren't, and it is sad that they get tarred with the same brush. Wiggins was furious to be asked if it was possible to win the Tour without drugs just moments after claiming the yellow jersey, and rightly so. A multiple Olympic Champion shouldn't have to face questions like that, and this Chinese girl, the world champion and favourite in the event, shouldn't have to face them either.
