Guide

After reading this, this game is a piece of delicious apple pie.

The Basics

First of all, you should play the tutorial. It might give you to much information at once, but it is quite useful information.
Now, after learning the basics, you can start a new campaign. You'll be asked to come up with a name. You need to enter this name every time you come back, so it's adviced to pick one you can easily remember.
Now that you've started a new campaign, you might wanna know what the real point of the game is. Basically, you are sent to get rid of the Infected, your enemy. The area you play in is divided into several zones, which you will unlock as you proceed. There are 3 friendly zones, these are Havens. Here you can talk to the Base Commander and complete tasks for him. At Haven 1, these tasks are quite simple, but later they'll get much harder.

Your Ship

Your ship consists of 2 parts, a Shell and a Core. Your Shell is everything on your ship that's green. Your Core is the white orb on your ship. It is basically protected by the Shell.
On the upper-left, there are 3 bars displayed: Shell, Core and Energy. Shell resembles your Shell's health. If this gets too low, your Core gets unprotected, meaning that it can get hit too. When your Core health is gone, you die. When you die, you respawn at the nearest Base. Your Shell health can regenerate.
Energy is used whenever you perform a move. When this gets too low, some moves can not be used before it has regenerated again. On the bottom of the screen your moves are displayed. Which moves you have depends on your ship parts (see topic below). When you don't have enough Energy to perform a move, it has a red outline.

Upgrading

If you want to be able to complete more difficult tasks, you'll need to get stronger. Defeating lots of enemies doesn't help you with this, this is not Pokemon. No, to grow stronger, you'll have to expand. Therefore, you must haul in ship parts. This can be done in 2 ways.
  • Buy them. At Haven 2 and 3, a Trader Base is located. This Base functions as a shop were you can buy and sell ship parts. You buy ship parts from the credits you've earned by completing tasks.
  • Get them from enemies. Defeated enemies sometimes drop ship parts. By double-clicking these, you activate your Tractor Beam (see topic below) so you can drag them with you. Then, you must drag it to a Yard. Yards are located at all Havens. When arrived at a Yard, double-click it and enter. You can now drag the part onto your ship.
Where you place your parts doesn't matter. It also doesn't matter which part it is, because every part increases your Shell and Core health. But if you're really picky, then you might wanna have these parts at your ship: Beam, Cannon, Bullet, Missile, Shell Boost and Energy. Thrust is also useful, but only when your ship is so heavy you can barely move anymore.

When your Shell health drops, there is a chance that you lose some of your ship parts. You then can't use the corresponding moves anymore. To get back your parts, simply go to a Yard and reconstruct your ship. This will get you all your ship parts, health and Energy back.

Tractor Beam and Extractors

Your Tractor Beam is used to drag things with or to you. These can be ship parts, smaller units, Turrets and Power Orbs. You can activate a Tractor Beam by double-clicking an object. You can have only one Tractor Beam active at once. When you already have a Tractor Beam active and activate another one, the first one is deactivated.

Energy Orbs and Turrets can be dragged with your Tractor Beam. Turrets are found at Extractors. Extractors are scattered around the map. You can spend Power here for certain Turrets. Double-click an Extractor to check out its available Turrets. When you buy one, it'll activate your Tractor Beam.
Turrets are bought with Power. Power is earned by collecting Power Orbs. Sometimes enemies drop these. Clicking them will make you pull them towards you with your Tractor Beam. One Power Orb is equal to 25 Power.
Sometimes an Extractor is connected to a Power Device. This Device releases a Power Orb every now and then. If you're in need of Power, stand near a Power Device for a while and collect some Power Orbs.
Apart from giving you Power, Power Orbs also give you Energy an a bit of Shell health.

Extractors can become Infected when shot enough by enemies. You then are not able to get any Turrets from the Extractor. If you shoot an Infected Extractor enough, you can make it friendly again.
When an Infected Extractor is connected to a Power Device, you can still collect it's Power Orbs.

This pretty much covers it all.

Medals

Newborn (5 points)
Complete the tutorial
Obvious. Casual Commander (10 points)
Complete all tasks at Haven 1.
Haven 1 has pretty easy tasks, so this shouldn't be hard to do. All UR Base R Belong 2 Us (25 points)
Win a Skirmish battle on hard difficulty
Skirmish is sort of an extra battle mode. It is activated from the menu. In it, you play as a pre-set ship and must destroy the enemy base. Do this on hard and you have the medal. Midcore Commander (25 points)
Complete all tasks at Haven 2
Speaks for itself. Phat Lewt (25 points)
Collect a part of a BattleCore
BattleCores are encountered in the Dead Zones. They pop up a few seconds after entering one. Make sure your ship is strong enough so it can survive the Zone. BattleCores hardly drop any parts so this might take a while. After collecting the part, drag it to a Yard and you get the medal. Hardcore Commander (50 points)
Complete the campaign
Also speaks for itself. ShellCore Commander (100 points)
Get a total achievement score of 30.000
This medal can also be earned after beating the game. Your score is for 99% determined by your amount of ship parts, so you need to have enough ship parts to get to 30.000 points. When you've reached this amount, you need to attach one more part to your ship to claim the medal. Doing this takes a long time. This is how my ship looked when I hit 30.000. //www.newgrounds.com/dump/draw/cbfd17500412267a0eb956c99a6275c2.jpg
