Newgrounds Wiki: RADiancE

9 Medals (395 points)

RADiancE is primarily a snake game with Break-out game elements added to the mix - eat, grow, break blocks by hitting balls at them. With moving and near-invisible blocks, power upgrades, and boss fights, it's a unique and fun take on the classic genres. The game is made up of 4 sections, each ending with a boss fight. There are 40 levels in all, plus classic mode. I can't really think of any helpful tips for the general gameplay, other than don't box yourself in. So, let's go onto the boss fights.

Bosses

Below you'll find the techniques on how to defeat the bosses.

MetaSquare

The first boss you well encounter in the game. Not really difficult. When the fight begins, stay in the center, as it's main body will always go along the walls of the room. It well eventually stop in the middle of one of them and split up into smaller squares. Stay back from them and watch for a clear opening among the incoming small black squares for a chance to strike the green square. It takes a total of 4 hits on the green square to defeat the boss.

MetaTriangle

This boss is a little trickier than the the first boss, but not much harder to deal with. The trick here is all about making an opening for the attack on the green triangle, when the main form breaks up and spits small triangles at you. I find it help to get close to the boss and near a wall, then stay as close as you can to the walls until it runs out of small triangles. Run in for the attack and out before it closes in. This seems to be a lot easier when the green triangle is close to a wall. In a limited way, you can direct the main body near a wall, before it stops and shoot triangles out at you. It takes 3 hits to take this boss down.

MetaBall

Probably the hardest boss you will have encountered so far in the game, because of the constant dodging you will have to do in the battle with it. The key to victory here it to focus on one ball at a time, and then focus on the smaller ball until you eliminate one entirely. If you do it right you will only face up to 4 balls at the same time, only once, in your battle with it. After that, it get's easier once you start eliminating more individual balls from the field. Sometimes you will have a chance to eliminate two balls at the same time; but remember, never the ones you can still split into more balls. It will take up to four hits to eliminate your first ball, after that it becomes less and less.

MetaGeometry

Actually, this boss doesn't seem as hard as the previous boss battle with MetaBall, but only a little. Fortunately, this this will be the last boss fight in the game, and you will be well prepared for it because the final boss morphs into previous bosses. Unfortunately, some of them will move a little differently, and this boss has one last form up it's sleeve that you have seen but have never fought against.

In all, you can face up to 4 different forms in this battle. The easiest form is the ball form. Just avoid it. It's easy to do. The square form is harder. It no longer moves along the walls, but randomly across the field. Move in an opposite direction from it when you can, but when it comes right at you, try to be on the inner corner side of it and move towards the center. The triangle form is not much different than the MetaTriangle battle, but it sometimes changes. You can tell when the triangles it spits out at you start to morph into balls. When it does that, look for an opening, a space, in it and move out. The triangle is also the only form that reveals the weakness, the green triangle - sometimes ball shaped to. After hitting it twice, the boss will change into it's last form, a snake. The only way that you can defeat it is by getting it to crash into the wall or into itself. The latter is not hard to do. Just move in a tight circle (or square), ass to face, or as near it as you can without crashing into yourself. You will only need to keep that up for a few seconds. It will be over quick, for it, or for you. Good luck.

Medals

Almost half the medals are for defeating the bosses. Follow the above guide and that should help you get them.

The other half of the medals are for growing segments on your snake. The best level to get them all is the Micro level, in the 4th section of the game. It has a lot of room to move, the pellets show up fast, and the blocks are easily defensible when you encircle it.

The last medal is a secret one. Hint: check the ingame credits. If you can't figure that medal out, send a message and I will PM you the details on how to get it.
