Wow, thanks so much for the front page NG, you guys are way too kind. ^_^

If you guys have any questions, I'll answer them. Just let me know. ^_^ There are bound to be a few typos and some bugs, just let me know if one is super bad and I'll go fix it. This is mostly just for fun, don't bang me up too bad. :P

Fixed a bug that made it so that you couldn't buy gnomes sometimes.
I've uploaded a new version, I lowered the costs of gnomes some, so that they can be used for ranged support more easily. I also fixed a few small bugs, some of the bigger ones I haven't been able to repeat yet.
I increased the trade speed a tiny bit.
I also fixed the issue of transferring men to fight. If you start to send 50, and then decide to send all, the 50 you manually sent will be lost. This is fixed in my new upload, but it might not take effect yet. So be warned.
Fixed the loot screen so that it tells you how many knights died, and how many mushrooms you bring back from missions.

Q: No save?
A: nope, as I said in the startup of the game, this was really a big learning experience. I didn't/don't know how to handle a save file for a game this big. Next time I will know how I promise, but this game was just way to big to do a proper save on. Now, your experience is saved, and it gives your extra money when you start up again. So you can easily get caught back up in just a few minutes in most cases. Sorry for this minor inconvenience, but I just didn't prepare to make a save function for this game, and it got a lot bigger than I'd originally planned. Thanks and don't get too mad please. :D

Q: There are some clipping errors on the sides?
A: NG only allows a max size of 700, and I made my game 750, so I don't know how to fix that. The flash file is being distorted some. Hopefully it won't be noticeable to all of you though, but I noticed on one of my older machines in IE. Not in firefox or chrome.

Q: Where do I get money and silver?
A: Increase your population, you tax your population, so the more people you have, the more money you make.

Q: Where do I get stone? Freaking stone!? D:
A: The best place to get stone is from dungeons. But also the mines generate stone at a steady rate.

The spam-clicking game.

This game is, in terms of mechanics, great. The building system is complicated and fun, but more than that, the battle system is absolutely awesome, with a huge amount of depth and complexity that kept me fascinated for hours. I felt like I was really organizing a war every time I sent my army off to battle.

The graphics were rather minimal, but the gameplay is the centerpiece here, and I'm a reader anyway so the lack of imagery didn't bug me. I don't think the lack of a save feature matters much, since the game seems to be of only short-medium length and the exp system works pretty well (or it did the one time I had to leave and come back).

But despite all of that, I find myself incredibly frustrated and unable to muster the will to continue playing. Why? The lack of a buy-x. I can not emphasize enough how badly this game is ruined by the lack of the ability to buy in bulk. I'm writing this review after losing the greater part of my army in an unsuccessful campaign; in order to rebuild what I've lost, I'd literally need to sit here and click my mouse THREE THOUSAND FUCKING TIMES. At the same time, I'm still one thousand stone away from a keep, so that's at least another EIGHT HUNDRED FUCKING CLICKS (since raiding dungeons for stone is painfully slow) and then I need--let's see--about SEVEN THOUSAND MORE FUCKING CLICKS for all the stone, fruit, and meat I need to unlock everything. And no, holding the mouse button doesn't work--it's much slower than spam-clicking.

*Deep breath* OK that's my rant. Note that despite all I said, I still loved the game--I did spend the past 3 hours and at least SIX THOUSAND FUCKING CLICKS of my life on it. If I could rebuy my armies quickly I would be right back to trying to kill the boss right now. Just please please please add a bulk-purchasing option.

Finally beat the last missions...

After about 7 hours put in and most of those using an auto clicker, my army of the Samurai leader with the dragon helm, Icebrand, 2000 henchment, 3000 boggins, 13000 warriors, 400 masters, 1000 theives, 1000 gladiators, 600 gnomes, 100 mages, 500 clerics, and 1500 knights was able to secure me victory with all of the largest supplies I could take. So besides needing like 20,000 men to kill one demon lord (I only lost ONE battle master in the after math to a scorpion. Nothing else died.)

The game was really fun. Though building/buying/trading was slow until I downloaded an auto clicker just for this game. An easy tip to afford mushrooms and gems and stuff. Get like 5000 lumber mills (1000 wood every tick or so) Then just mass the crap out of hovels to get population. I had a population of like 48k people. My gold income was near 50k a tick. That was 10 gems every few seconds. Yeah, it took a while, yeah, I had like 50k hovels. But since we don't have an input menu yet the clicker was great.

Anyways, in other news. The game itself. Was fun, needed a tutorial on experience, maybe a heads up that you only get 4 heroes. I think one other thing that could help out would letting people build more quarries for stone, like how Pig farms and lumber mills have no limits. Getting 50 stone a tick over 2 would be so much better, since then you can save your cheese for the much needed thieves. The missions were challenging, and you had to really pick leaders that complimented where one was lacking. Killing the black dragon was harder than the demon lord, to be honest. However, the quests felt gratifying.

It's also worth it to note that SMALL ARMIES WILL GET YOU NOWHERE. This isn't your usual game, with stupidly overpowered units that 100 warriors can kill a few hundred thousand goblins. The second mission in the ruins of Ashwood or whatever, it took me 300 warriors,200 boggins, 5 masters, and 30 thieves to win since there are so many scripted enemies there. You have a basic army, not an uber godly one. Hence the 20k people to kill the demon lord.

In other note, I know you're going to upload a new version with cheaper gnomes, but...would it have been that bad to add a small class called "Archer" ? So many melee units including the orcs and stuff, I would suggest dropping the thieves and throwing in archers or something. Boggins always do more lockpicking than my thieves do.

All in all, /end paragraph. The game was enjoyable, really wasted time. Most of the time though the quests took a lot of effort, and working on your city was more profitable for stone/gems/shrooms. Maybe next time there could be static army upgrades? Like, +10 health to warriors or something, so the units stats don't go from 2 bars, to 3 bars, to knights with like 20 bars in each. I look forward to a sequel.

PS: There needed to be more random events and they needed to scale more. When I had 50,000 people and an event made me lose 6 population it really didn't matter for crap. Or when I lost 50 iron. Of my 300k iron. etc etc.

Man, thanks so much, those are some fantastic ideas and the info you gave me really helps me gauge a lot of different things about the game's mechanics. some things were really hard for me to test, like, I always knew my odds, and exactly what I needed to send for every mission, etc. I didn't really feel like I got to 'play' the game any in my testing.

Gotta have one of these subject lines to post.

Cool game, but kinda unplayable with the army part, even with an auto clicker buying units for me. Hopefully you patch in the "Buy _____ of this" sooner instead of later. When you do put in bulk buying, don't forget to add it to buying the buildings too, along with the troops and materials (trade).

I also didn't understand why I wouldn't just hire the strongest hero instead of starting out with a weaker one and moving up. Perhaps I'm missing something major there.

TL;DR great game and cool concept, but needs less 'click x 40000' to proceed.

The weaker heroes are supposed to help in other ways, Cinnacat for instance can find diamonds and other materials randomly when he's exploring. Rundle and Rothus make your men have a bonus in combat and die less often. Etc.

Good game, but off balanced.

I think the game in it's own perspective is a pretty good one, but in my opinion the game is off balanced because the shear number of having an army takes a while to get to can get annoying. Making the buildings were very decent, not easy but challenging to get a town up. Some of the leaders were good, but I question about some of the characters as a leader. Also I suggest adding in a save feature since it makes all that was done lost.

Overall: the game is good, but it takes a lot of time to have the game rocking.

You're right, I understand code stuff a lot better now, I think future games like this that I make will be much more organized and offer better bulk tools.

High hopes....low delivery.

I won't go over all of the unbalanced game play issues that have already been covered in previous posted reviews. However I will say that after playing this game for an hour the trade feature and not being able to do bulk trade was more then just frustrating it kept me from wanting to play the game any further.

I like how much effort you put into this however it's just too unbalanced to really be fun to play for any length of time.

Looking beyond the not having music due to file size and the ability of a few ranged units to wipe of entire armies...I would say that you should put in some more work on this in order for it to be more fun and less frustrating.
