Reviews for "Intruded"

A good game that suffers from its controls.

You've managed to put out an excellent idea with a wonderful atmosphere, great music and visuals and a creepy, vague storyline.

And then, there are the controls. What can I say about them other than "they're awful"? The changing camera angles felt really clunky and weird, especially while being chased and not having time to correct your direction, and made the game more frustrating than challenging. I did manage to finish it, after getting stuck on the last chase scene for a while due to the controls being incredibly unforgiving.

Still, with that point aside, I did enjoy the game. I'm not entirely sure I understand the story, but maybe that was your intention. The creepy vibes were great, especially toward the end with the ghost. Had the controls been implemented better, this would have been a perfect game.

Well...

This is a good game. It has a challenging gameplay and some interesting graphics. It's also in 3D. Unfortunately, it's also flash, and the combination of 3D and Flash was rarely a good one. This shows in the weird jumps the camera makes. One moment it seems you're going towards a road, the camera jumps and the road has moved a few inches away, causing you to fall. Also, the obstacles never are where you think they are, thus causing frustrating collisions with obstacles that seemed further away. These two points show the most with camera 16. It's unfortunate, because the graphics were pretty good, and the gameplay itself is pretty solid. I found the music also fitting, although the escape from the 'eyeflame' (or whatever it is) pretty annoying. These glitches cause a great game to turn into a decent but glitchy game.

Fun, but frustrating

Biggest problem was the camera angles. I understand they were supposed to be the core of the game, but with how the controls worked, you were completely at their mercy. If the game decided to do a long range camera angle on a tight platform, there was literally nothing you could do about it, just take your best guess and hope it worked. While the game isn't overly difficult, the cameras and difficult control scheme made some areas that shouldn't have been that hard almost impossible (the first room with the spiked ball almost made me give up, the cameras were so bad).

Overall, a fun game, but the camera angles needed work. It should have been an artistic choice, not a game mechanic, otherwise the player should have had some control over it. Perhaps allowing the player to choose camera angles rather than having them hard-wired, or choose between a set of angles.

Some problems.

I like the concept of this game very much, as well as the styling and the music. But viewing the character through the 'cameras' makes it very hard to see where you're going from time to time. I had to continue through a hostile room because I couldn't find the way out. If that's the point, then I don't subscribe to it. Furthermore, the woman's movements when she's walking are very fluid, but when she's doing anything else; turning, falling, etc, she looks extremely rigid and robotic. I like this game, but there are some definite issues that hinder it.

Ugh...

The game wasn't exactly horrible, but the occasional mountainous spikes in the difficulty eventually make me quit. I've said this many times before: difficult controls do not make a game fun. Difficulty in a game should be made through strategy or level design, and even then people rely too much on difficulty to make a game "addicting" rather than fun.

The graphics were kinda cool. It's one of the first 3D games I've seen in flash that actually runs. It was used in a nice way too. The filters obscured what I'm sure was a rather ugly and rudimentary setup (I don't blame you for it, it's not like flash can do any better right now). Honestly, the game was kinda fun when I could just wander a bit. I think if you focused less on platforming/mazing style challenges and added some sort of story the game could be much more interesting. The simpler challenges didn't bother me. Up till level 8 I was having fun. Then it felt like one of those horrible Operation style mouse mazes.

Also, artsy game or not, you should always tell people the controls in game at the start. Maybe you could have painted it on the wall or sommat.
