Welcome to Motorjoust! A game made in 2 weeks by Team Midnight Moose Party for the Newgrounds Game Jam #9!

Take on the roll of a knight who has been invited to take part in the King's Tournament of Champions. You will have to fight your way through the best jousters in the land, while dodging obstacles and gaining air on crazy jumps!
-----------------------
Controls:
Up/Down - Steer
Left/Right - Balance
Spacebar - Accelerate
Shift - Reverse (Warning: Painfully slow)
M - Mute
P - Pause
Esc - Quit
-----------------------

As an added bonus, we decided to incorporated our level editor into the game so you can design your own levels, and then share them with your friends via the Newgrounds API!

SIDENOTE: This game was made as an homage to the classic NES game Excitebike! We tried to make it as retro as possible without taking away from a great user experience! If you look closely you'll find references to classic NES titles like Megaman and The Legend of Zelda!

Thumbs up for motorjoust......cool game by the way. i eagerly enjoy it!

WingDemon responds:

Glad you liked it man!

This game brings back so many fond memories of Excitebike, along with some new thrills to boot!
I love the music and minimalist 8-bit graphics, and of course the silly story line.
The only thing I found a bit frustrating was the stiff controls when trying to move up and down to different planes.
Other than that, this game is rad, and I hope you make more tribute games paying homage to more of the oldies but goodies!

WingDemon responds:

Those controls! I know your pain, especially in the third level (which i'm currently stuck on) Glad you liked it!

So, the game "Motorjoust" only features jousting in cutscenes. The reality is that it's a sluggish Excitebike. Sluggish in controls, mainly in lane switching. What perplexes me is that some levels seem to have been created with the idea that the player can switch lanes faster than is actually possible.
I just didn't enjoy this game at all. It's a poor Excitebike based around collecting items. It's a miserable experience, even when winning. The only reward for completing a level is another level.

WingDemon responds:

Thanks for your opinion man. A lost of those points could've been fixed with more time, like level design; we had two days or so to develop the levels and lets face it, we're a group of artists, not level designers. Yes they could've been better, but under the circumstances i think they were pretty well done. Try using the level editor to make a level YOU thought would be good for the game and see how hard it is. ;)

Not bad at all, I loved the dialogue, and that ending made my night

WingDemon responds:

Thanks for playing man! Yeah that ending was basically us tossing things out but it seemed pretty solid in retrospect. Glad you liked it!

-Wingy

lol I love the surprise ending.
and take the second to last level slowly, and youll win. :)

WingDemon responds:

Second to last level? Yo, im still on the 3rd. Not even joking. Anyway thanks for your review! and Glad you liked it!
