The sequel is now up on Newgrounds - you can check it out by selecting the 'also by this author' in the bottom left.

A brand new version of the card game The Necronomicon, with a new game mode, and full of new art drawn up by various contributors. There are now 30 ranks to beat, and the game ends when either you get to 30 before your opponent, or they beat you up to rank 30.

Bug fixes, game changes and tweaks, and a whole new game mode called Challenge Mode. Defeat the opponent in a series of scenarios where the odds are stacked against you.

Also includes some rule changes and creatures now have additional abilities.

** NEW - . - MASSIVE update to how the cards are dealt out. Basically what happens now in the fix is that you both have a deck of whatever amount of cards are unlocked, and each card will be seen once by each of you. There will be no duplicate cards appearing until your deck has been exhausted and shuffled, and so the only dups you will see are the cards you held from the previous shuffle. Makes everything much more balanced.

I like this game a lot, but

I really like this game, but I think it is just because I love the Cthulu mythos. As far as a game goes, it isn't great. First off, how does the game determine what cards go into my hand? Too many times I would receive the same cards over and over again, and never see the cards that I had received from beating levels. Also, I am currently around the sixth or seventh level and I still have never seen a single card to increase my arcane. This could just be because card allotment is redundant, which supports my first complaint. However, half of the attack cards do some damage plus arcane, so why not give me any arcane cards. Next is the attack cards. Why do you have so many and why do they keep coming up again and again. I've had it happen where the computer never uses monster cards, they just keep throwing attack cards. Why do they have so many attack and so few monsters? Is it because the card dealing is redundant, or does this game not focus on creature usage as much? Also I have a problem with the invulnerability status. A creatures attack cannot remove it? I've had it happen where the computer uses an invulnerability card, and my creature can't attack, yet I don't have any attack cards to remove it! So I sit there and get my ass handed to me because of what seems like either a glitch in programming or flaw in the games design. Invulnerability says it protect against the next attack, so shouldn't the creatures attack count to remove invulnerability? If not then shouldn't the creature get to do damage because if it can't affect invulnerability, then how does invulnerability affect it?
I don't know. I think if I didn't like the Cthulu mythos, I wouldn't waste my time with this game.

The gameplay is a little shallow for a card game. Basically you can play a card, or discard one. This would be more fun if there were a storyline, or if one could choose their own deck.
The arcane, taint, and magic defense counters were a nice touch though.
