Reviews for "The Rise of a Knight"

Kinda boring

This game is a good hack n slash, with some nice art, and a good story. But there needs to be something more on the game play side.
1. The enemies need more variety, sure some of them look different but most of them are just killed the same way.
2. The formula gets old, run to the right and slash anything that gets in the way; which would be fine if the enemies werent all killed by a couple of mindless slashes, see the flash game wulfgar for examples of a fun hack n slash formula.
3.A level up system, some unlockable moves, that kind of stuff would add a whole extra level of fun to this game, along with the occasional optional side quest, theres not much point in adding rpg elements of the game is going to be linear and straight forward, otherwise everyone who plays the game will be the around the same level by the end of the game.

Nice story, nice animation, nice music; Just needs...something more to the gameplay. 4/5

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks!
I have played Wulfgar. Its really good :)
Yeah Im still learning a lot and I think I am improving. All the reviews helps me a lot to see what people think and most reviews have been extremely helpful and enlightening, yours as well thanks.

spider boss rigged....

u get a 7 cuz of a good story but very repedative as siad b4 and the spider boss when overhead cant be blocked or outrun(well i cant seem 2 anyway) fix it make a sequeal as said b4 accesories would be nice and shops upgrades levels so on and such

SeethingSwarm responds:

The spider queen is totally beatable, but many have had problems with it. I suppose its because of other little spiders running around there at the same time as well. A sequel is underway and I take all your comments under consideration. Thanks!

eerrr...

I didn't like it...

1. No story what so ever.

2. Ending was wierd.

3.No pause button

4.the hitboxes sucked.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Thanks for the review. Yeah, my coding skills are not that good yet, and a pause button was just too hard for me. Making time stop in games are not as easy as it might seem, or maybe Im just not good enough yet. I'll try to figure something out for the sequel. The hit detection was crap I agree, but it was the best I could do at the time. They will be improved on...

No story whatsoever? I dont get that. The game was driven by a story, wether good or bad is a matter of opinion, but the fact that there is a storyline just cant be debated. There is! Anyway, the edning was weird because I had to cut the game somewhere because of filesize. A sequel is underway...

cool

its a very good game, but after a while it gets boring so if you was to improve it id soppose you could add like something to like let us ambush the enemy. alltogether its a good game.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Wow, I've never thought of something like that. That sounds cool. Im not sure how I would implement that into the game though. I'll keep that in mind for the sequel.
Glad you liked the game and thanks for your input!

QUE?

Well animated, but short gameplay. Has potential, but still. If you just hold down A, you can just run through the level with your sword as a spinning windmill of death.

SeethingSwarm responds:

Did you finnish all 7 levels? I hope you didnt think that the second level where the introduction credits come up was the ending of the game. Otherwise Im sorry that the game was too short for you. It was really hard work.

Oh yeah, and the all-powerful "a" button is just a bit too good for its own good, I know. The combat system needs a bit of work, and I'll improve on that (I'll try my best) in the sequel...
