Reviews for "Relic"

I tried to play it, but using the mouse to navigate menus and choose your foes in real times battles simply felt too slow. Especially at the start where all you're doing is picking attack.

The ability to use WASD/Arrow Keys and Enter to pick would have been a much better idea.

ok, I honestly didnt played it because I didn't like it (I only got to the first save spot). The graphics are good and all and I'm guessing that if this game is improved or made into a sequel it would be good.

The things I didn't like were that you can't choose your own class (since is an RPG) and I didn't really got the story, I don't know if that was just me, I think there should've been a better story for this.
(Remember, I only played until I saw the first save spot)

An ok time waster but I have some issues.

First of all, there wasn't any place where you can recover health and mana. All RPGs have one. An inn, a save point where you can heal.. things like that. Without it I had no choice but to buy potions. I have NO idea how many potions I've bought and used for the game.

Next, the skills you put into the game were great. I loved the care put into the graphic of skill usage. Some games would just have the character perform the basic attack and add a little something extra. This one, however, had a different action altogether. My issue with the skills, though, is that they were so weak! The basic attacks of each character were WAY more powerful than the skills. There were even times that when I was facing 3 enemies and use a skill that targets all. But the TOTAL damage was STILL weaker than a basic attack to 1 enemy. So.. think on that a bit?

Lastly, there should be a back button. When selecting attack or when selecting a skill.. there HAS to be a back button. Common sense.

All that being said.. I still think that this game was pretty ok. The story wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. I think that if you came out with a part2 of this game and fixed all these issues I would definitely love the game. Put a little more substance into the story and I'd probably even buy it. So.. good luck to you and I look forward to seeing another one.

This game is everything a JRPG should be.

That's why it doesn't entirely work.

Okay, I'll start positive: artwork is great, you've established a grand, epic backstory for the world before we even begin (and dumped it all on us in the first few seconds) and then we start the game.

The interface is pretty clunky, but it's functional at least. The battles aren't terrible, but they are terribly repetitive... though, that's to be expected. If you were going to take one thing from the standard JRPG format, you could've made it so that the party members are introduced gradually rather than dumped on you all at once. That way each one seems person and important.

Everything I've wanted to say has been already said by other people though. The game isn't terrible. It's not even bad. It's just... below average. Slightly over par. Almost there but not quite. I want to say it has potential, and it might, but not for me. I just don't like the grindy tedious format, because it makes the game feel like a chore. The artwork really is awesome though.

There's obviously a lot of work put into this, and I'll look forward to your future games.

It's a good first game, but there's quite a few problems. The game's start is quite confusing, and you're essentially thrown into battle before figuring out how to learn the differences between the 5 characters and their various skills. The "opponent attacks whenever" rule also discourages the player getting immersed in the game with so many actions happening and no time to think. The game also isn't letting me save and isn't telling me why, despite having cookies enabled and being connected to the internet.

HOWEVER, once you look past those aspects, the game seems to get better. But I don't know, though - the game won't let me save, so I have no motivation to continue past level 2.
