This video covers a large part of Orange county - mostly Orlando and Winter Park. I stayed over at my friend Gian's apartment during the storm. It was an interesting time.

The video is around 30 megs, in QuickTime 6 format:

Warning: it has some bad language.

i'm from central florida, where it hit hardest in the state, it was really really intense. i saw some trees fall and we went and picked up street signs around 1am when everything settled down some. it was madness for about 4 days cos no one had electricity, my bf and other friends are just getting it back today. others might have to wait til next week...high schools throughout polk county are closed for at least the rest of the week. i think there were only 5 deaths tho so we were somewhat fortunate.

*k*

O man, I've heard on the news that it hit pretty hard. I'm from Canada so I'm ok but I hope all those in the path of destruction are safe and all make it through the storm fine. Well, I gotta go now, I got a 1.5 hour long flash movie to get started on as a personal project, bye all.

Power just came back on here. I'm in Ft. Myers. On Friday and Saturday I couldn't go anywhere because of all the debris in the road and all the traffic lights are out. Many lights are still out and 90,000 people in Lee County have yet to get their power back. People still haven't been let onto Ft. Myers Beach (Estero Island) or Sanibel and Captiva islands.

Here's a picture I took after the storm...

And here's a really cool video from downtown Ft. Myers...

just wanted to let all you out there know that there are us people on the other coast of the US hoping you all are safe, still have intact homes and heal up well. Been a while since something like that landed over here, so its hard to really get a feel of that devastation. Best Wishes!

Hurricane Charley's like a big bulley... When he gets to you, sobbing wont help...
my prayers are with Florida, Cuba and everyone else Charley seems to pick a fight with...

Yeah, I'm so glad and so dazed at the same time...know this is a bit late, but I live in the Tampa Bay area...we are so damn lucky that it curved south, but at the same time I'm sorry for all those people in central Florida...The pictures on the news are just pure devestation, people rooting around their ruined houses trying to salvage things and think of what to do next...Thank God for all the relief funds set up around the state...But you know, there are going to be tons of scams from insurance companies and benefit corps, always some greedy bastards trying to take advantage of a bad situation. Byt my heart goes out to all those people for the next couple months, and I hope you all find some way to get through this.

As a sidenote, this was the second most devastating hurricane (after Andrew, of course) and caused even MORE property damage than Andrew. Fortunately, the death toll is 17 already with more than 50 missing...We can only hope they're trapped and not worse....So good luck to everyone out there.

Love and peace.
