I'm starting to think that it's because in my previous attempts to play New Vegas, I was playing it just so that I could say I've beaten it. Let me explain some more. I have hundreds of video games sitting on a shelf behind me and every time I want to play a new game it takes me forever to settle on something because there are so many games I want to play. So usually I start a game all enthusiastically but after a while I find myself rushing so that I can move on to something else. I ended up doing that with New Vegas originally but Fallout games aren't the kind of games that you can rush through and enjoy, in my opinion. You need to spend some time playing them and take in all that there is to offer. That's what I'm doing this time and enjoying it a lot more.

*Some New Vegas spoilers, kinda*

Still don't really care much for the "who will you side with" part of the story. I can't decide if I want to side with the NCR, Mr. House or go independent. Usually I'd like that kind of decision because it makes me think but in this case there is no obvious option for me. I can't decide which would be, in my opinion, the best option. Right now I'm more inclined to side with Mr. House or go independent.

That's something that got to me a bit too about the game, I found it a lot harder to care. In 3, the one option always seemed like a good option regardless of the fact that you had to do it. In NV, there are so many negatives and so many positives that it's a lot harder to choose. I like having something to think about in my video games, but I don't like how politically focused the majority of the game is. I'd rather be off quests like helping out Marcus, screwing around in Black Mountain and such.

Have a boatload of shit to do, so gonna keep this brief. I had previously stated in several threads I was excited for Zelda A Link Between Worlds (LTTP2) and just wanted to publicly retract my interest. The producer Aonuma, had outright admitted that they copy pasted the same world rather than starting fresh so it could be developed faster. (I don't have a link but Google is your friend, I'm not talking out of my ass) The artstyle is generic and an outright disgrace to the original. Boss AI, patterns and strategy to overcome are way too similar and now that the dust has settled, I've had time to really watch some gameplay and read interviews and it's shaping up to be a cash in on peoples' love for the SNES classic.

Pretty much a shitty, watered down remake/whatever the fuck. Uninspiring and pathetic. Don't be deceived and buy into the hype/name. Don't buy this game.

Tell me how this is acceptable and worth your hard earned money, please.

I can't help but feel this way about a lot of Nintendo's "remakes" nowadays. I guess because I'm not much of a Nintendo fan anymore. When I see that they're selling Ocarian of Time again on the 3DS (but in 3D!!) and they're selling the original on the virtual console at the same time, I can't help but feel that's a bit iffy. The only time I've ever bought a remake or revamp like that was Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and that was only because at that point I had never owned the original and also wanted to experience the online co-op. I completely agree with what you said though about the LTTP remake though, the original sprite version seems to have a lot more depth and style.

Even just comparing those screenshots, the original look way better than the remake. I still haven't played A Link to the Past yet though. I don't have a SNES so I think my only option is to pick up a GBA copy that I can play through my GameCube. Unfortunately, not the asking price for that game is a little more than I'm willing to pay.

From the video, I can see the animation is much more fluent and they added cool effects and everything. However, the art style itself looks horrible. It's generic indeed and doesn't contain much detail. The SNES version, which is 20 years older, actually looks better. That's just unforgivable in my opinion.

And yeah, if it's almost exactly the same game I see no reason to buy it.

Well that's disappointing. This was the first time I was actually excited for a Zelda game too.

The art style in those textures seems to be a little lazier, flat and botched compared to the original on the right Though I do like the layout a little better then on the right because it's less cluttered up

It looks pretty poor, it has to be said. A Link to the Past is one of those Zelda games that never really interested me, so I wasn't overly hyped as it was, but now I'm even less so.

Cleared Inferno on Dragon's Crown, gonna shelf it for the time being. Considered typing up a full review, but nah, changed my mind. Moving onto Legend of Dragoon (PSN) and finishing up Alundra. Last time I played this game was 2003. Memory lane...

Basically still bull rushing my backlog of games while I have an enormous amount of free time, the clock is winding down. Next spring onward I won't have much time for video games anymore and it hurts.

My friend just found out what resolution does on PC games after I mentioned it in Payday 2. I think he might be retarded. He keeps telling me how good different games look now.

Lol. Poor guy has probably been stuck on 800x600 for years. I remember when I first got my Xbox 360 we didn't have a HDTV and I wasn't expecting there to be too much of a difference back then, but when I finally got my HDTV it was amazing. The rank icons on COD4 actually looked like something other than a blob of random colours. It was amazing.

Not exactly gaming related, but it affects my gaming..

Here at home my internet is $60/m for 5mbps down and a 30GB bandwidth cap (ours is broken so we have unlimited. haven't told the company, why would we?). Now that I'm going away to college I have more options where I live and for $55/m I'll have 45mbps down and a 300GB limit. Now compare that to Google Fiber... 5mbps with no limit for FREE. 1gbps with no limit for $70/m.

So I was just wondering, what sort of speeds do you guys get. Here I am so excited to be getting 45mbps, when people out there have more than 20x faster speeds.

Howdy, y'all. I decided to start playing a classic game I've heard about but knew nothing about. Snatcher, aka the game Kojima made before Metal Gear Solid. It's pretty fun and is really testing my knowledge of Japanese listening as there are no subtitles.

Also Metal Gear Mk. II makes his first appearance!

I'm about 2 hours in right now, and I'd recommend you play this if you dig classic artistic graphics in a cyberpunk/noir setting. I believe there is an English version on the PS1 as well.

~2.5mbps for €50 a month. Actually feels amazing compared to what we had about a year ago. Tfw Ireland.

The only official english version was for the Sega CD, so understandably it sold about 12 copies and now it's rare and expensive. There's also Policenauts which never got released beyond the walls of of nippon.

I have a feeling I may have come across a game breaking glitch in Arkham City. I'm in the subway and there's one if those electrically powered doors you can zap to open, but it's one if the ones that's busted and will open a bit so you have to slide under it. It's right by a titan tank. Well, it won't even budge a bit for me to slide under it. I have to get through to destroy the last signal jammer so I can get through the museum and get to Mr, Freeze and Penguin.

Double check a guide to make sure you're not missing anything... I played Arkham City about a year ago but I remember having some kind of trouble with that particular mission.

Just beat Twilight Princess and I love that game. Took about 31 hours or something but I didn't find myself getting bored at any point. Maybe with the exception of the City in the Sky but I just wasn't finding that dungeon interesting. I'm going to go back and play through Ocarina of Time at some point as well, but it probably wont be the next game I play.

As for the next game, I'm thinking it'll be Skies of Arcadia Legends. After a real time combat game I think I'm in the mood for a turn based combat game and since my GameCube is already set up, it might as well be Skies of Arcadia. In fact, I might even alternate between that and Ocarina of Time. JRPGs can get a bit tedious if I play them continually.

Anyone here played Skies of Arcadia? Interested in hearing some opinions on it. There don't seem to be many good video reviews for it on YouTube. When it comes to GameCube JRPGs, Tales of Symphonia seems to be the one that gets the most attention. Got a copy of that too, but still haven't played it either.

I did it in 36 hours the first time, but accumulated over 60 hours to complete it 100%. It's quite long for a non-RPG title.

City in the Sky was a nice dungeon in my opinion. Or at least, the boss fight was pretty awesome if I remember correctly. Personally, I thought the Temple of Time dungeon was a bit dull.

A lot of people say that Twilight Princess was a mediocre Zelda game, not bad, not great, but I loved it. I think it takes a firm place as my 3rd favourite behind OoT and MM. What really let it down is the awful supporting characters that were forced into the limelight so much, Colin and Ilia.

I loved it too. I don't really understand how anybody who enjoyed Ocarina of Time couldn't enjoy Twilight Princess. It essentially feels like a modernised OoT in just about every way. I guess I can understand that some people might not enjoy playing as Link in beast form but that was only slightly annoying early on in the game. Once you had the power to change form at will, it became less of an issue. And I only call it an "issue" because gathering all those bugs was kinda lame but not enough to consider the game bad.

Started on Skies of Arcadia Legends today. Only about 3 and a half hours in but so far it's a refreshing change. A JRPG centred on pirates. Air pirates at that. It has a combat system that's slightly different too. The entire party shares "spirit points" that are used for special moves and to cast magic. So if one character uses a special move that drains a lot of SP, it drains it for the whole party, not just that one character. There's also this system where you can change the colour of your weapon at any point. So for example, I think if you change it to red it sort of becomes a fire weapon. Fire might be strong against some enemies but also by using your weapons in different colours, you gain magic exp for that colour, unlocking new spells. So if you want to unlock fire spells, set your weapon to red when you're attacking so that you gain red exp. Maybe that sounds kinda complicated(?) but it's not really. It's actually kinda cool.

Some advice/tips:

-Do not run from battles under any circumstances; doing so will worsen your Swashbuckler rating.

- Use weapon attributes to your advantage; doing so will increase the damage you deliver and decrease the damage you sustain.

- Items don't drain spirit points which are better used for Super Moves, and they do not get blocked by Aika's Delta Shield S-move; use them, and stock up on several.

- Use Aika's S-moves to clear out large groups of enemies early on.

- Learn Green magic first. The majority of the spells learned from other colors are offensive in nature, and your spirit points are better used for other purposes.

Wonderful experience, it's a shame no other game has capitalized on the idea of airship combat. I felt it was implemented nicely.

The soundtrack is heavenly. Enjoy your playthrough, no other game is like it -I've searched-

Not to sound rude or anything but all of those tips are very basic gameplay aspects that the game (or instruction manual in some cases) already covered. With the exception of not running from battles but given how challenging some of the early bosses have been so far, running from combat seems like a terribly bad idea anyway because you're going to need the EXP.

Although I find the weapon attributes slightly confusing. There seems to be no clear indication of what weapon colour will be most effective on each enemy so I find myself just using trial and error until I discover what colour is most effective.

Any thoughts on a Steam 10 year anniversary sale? I don't see why they shouldn't, they did do a 1-year anniversary of Greenlight, after all..
