Reviews for "Puzzling War"

Wow..

Was pretty fun till I got to the third level on each side...then I'd just get completely annihilated...I went back and did the other path, thinking that would help, but it didn't. I upgraded my units, get combos over and over again, and they run right through my units. Then I just stopped and looked at the AI's side, and it's just getting every possible combo instantly without even pausing. This game is retarded.

It's Alright

While the game, at heart, has an interesting idea, difficulties in the execution lead to the game playing out as underwhelming.

I honestly love the art style, and all of the character art is extremely well done, but trying to find moves when half of every tile is characters' hair gets old really fast, especially when some units are extremely close in color to each other.

Secondly, there is no need to purchase the Sword, Armor, Potion, or Statue upgrades, and in fact makes the game harder as far as I could see. The play space is simply so limited that if you have more than 5 types of tiles, you are too likely to get a board with no moves and be forced to sit for three seconds while you get attacked continuously.

There is no "Strategy" involved in this game aside from matching tiles faster than the CPU, and if you can do that, you can win. The only reason I had issues with the last battle was because it took me twenty seconds to look past all the hair on the board and find a move I could make.

Also, as far as I could see, upgrading meant that you always sent higher level units, whereas the description states that you need to match more than 3 tiles to send out an upgraded unit. This is either a bug or a poorly described feature, and I'm not too sure which. Also, on the topics of bugs/errors, listing your money total as "money earned" after a battle is a slight pet peeve unless you're going to actually show how much money I earned that battle.

.......what?

I mean, if you ever took the time and looked up to see the sprites fighting, you'll lose because it takes just a single second and that's it.

The worst part of this game is the "steamroll effect, where one side has so many units on screen already that anything the opponent musters is simply futile and they'll mow or "steamroll" everything down.

Ranged units have unlimited range when they fire/attack. This means ranged units in numbers means a wall of firepower, as opposed to melee who have to get up close. Again, this just adds to the steamroll effect, very bad. BAD I TELL YOU.

Sprites look pulled from a game, yeah, but I don't care. Music was alright. I never used a single power-up, all I did was upgrade the units. It fucking blows when the opponent is like LOL SHIELD SHIELD SHIELD SHIELD SHIELD and you're stunned forever and ever amen. I know I could beat them with the same strategy, but it was easymode already. The enemy threw everything at me while I just had plain SKILLZ and good hand-eye coordination. Eat that, pixel bitches.

I got the daily highscore, yay... the name is "thisgamesucks". Har har. Noticed the rest of the scoreboard is hacked beyond hell. Seriously, why the fuck do people make these half-assed scoring games when the scores just end up hacked anyway? This isn't some pinball machine, it's the goddamned internet. Nobody cares about some retarded score on a mediocre game, especially when a handful hack the scores anyway. SO WHY DO IT?! WHY?!

WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE MAKE GAMES WITH THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING SCORES WHEN THE SCORES GET HACKED?! FUCKING TELL ME WHY! DOES NOBODY LEARN?! GRAAAAAAAAH!

Happy Thanksgiving, by the way.

good idea, but flawed execution.

I'll grant that the idea of combining bejeweled with a tug-of-war strategy is interesting, but the execution is bad. I have to repeatedly buy tiles the computer gets every battle for free? haha, NO. that's a bloody stupid idea. I can't really tell the difference before and after I upgrade my units as far as the gameplay goes, and this game feels entirely luck based. I could be having just as much fun playing roulette. also, your music sucks, the sprites are ugly and stupid-looking, and your english needs work. I just don't think this game is very well done at all

not bad

Cool little game to pass the time, but you don't have enough time to see what's going on at the top of the game
