You'll get retronins from posting, reviewing, submitting, and just contributing to the site. Then, you'll use them to add polls to your posts, feature submissions, and whatever else.

That's pretty much the achievements that RvB has. Milestones, Achievements, etc. Basically all the same things. Once you achieve a certain thing, you get the badge. 1000 posts, 5 submissions, First post, etc.

I never really cared for the levels with RG. They stuck out like a sore thumb and seemed like it was a try hard effort to be similar to NG. I know that the premise was to draw NG users to RG and build from there but it's been so long that a fresh and clean start would be nice.

Yeah the old ones were poorly made, I dunno if I'd say it will be a rip off of NG though, I mean, it was before, but to have em now dosn't mean we're ripping off NG, only if we choose to replicate their icons like before - maybe if we can think of some sort of theme aside from weapons

that was the one thing I liked about it though (aside from the abuse) is people could gift each other and you did get atleast a few RG bucks for everytthingggg done on rg, which is cool

also I remember them trying to use the feature as a way to buy premium - personally I'm against premium, but it'd be cool to use them towards some free RG logo stickers or something or other in the future

I'm working on a Milestones system for the website at the moment. Right now, it'll be set up for milestones based on join date, post count, cash amount (yes, I'm also adding cash to the website!), and account details (for example, when we add fields for AIM and profile descriptions, there could be milestones for adding that info to your profile). Each milestone will have a certain cash reward, and a future possibility might be special user titles.

On that note, I have an idea for the experience/level system, and it's based a good bit on WoW (gee, go figure). So, we have a certain number of levels on launch (we can have level icons, but we don't necessarily need them). To earn experience points, you complete "daily quests" (vote on a certain number of items in the portal, make a certain number of posts, etc.), then when you complete the quests you get cash and experience. When users hit the level cap, the experience they would earn is converted to cash. We can arbitrarily raise the level cap from time to time, there can be level-based milestones, and we could even do a "rested experience" type of system to keep casual users coming back (they may not want to visit the site on a daily basis, but if they have a reason to come back on a weekly basis because of the rested experience, that might improve our return rates).

For new users, we could have regular-type quests to make their first posts, first portal submissions, etc. We can also have seasonal quests to generate user interest from time to time.

Yes, this all sounds a lot like WoW, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work on RG. It would put some distance between us and NG, without looking like we blatantly ripped off another website's system. Thoughts?

It's a nice way to incorporate all of the NG type features and others with a twist that will make it stand out on it's own - who would have thought WoW would actually have a use one day aside from random freak out videos on youtube

Hey everyone.

This is just an update of where Retrogade stands. a small collection of us (team below) are working hard to establish the basics of where the site is headed. I will let it be known that this is not just a nostalgic project. Although nostalgia is fulling the desire to complete this project, we are keeping the focusing Retrogade as though it were a business and with the intention of growth further on.

A web plan guide, business plan and marketing plan are in the works, so this will not a reactionary process. With the diplomatic system that Retrogade is, all input is gladly welcomed and always opened up for debate. We have some great features coming to Retrogade as well, including old favorites such as Retroins and Portal, and new ones such as Milestones and Resume hosting.

As we currently have an Alpha Website established, we welcome everyone to give their input and feedback by signing up and trying out the current features. Our motive is to create well balanced website that focuses on the Artists, their Works and the Community at large. This will include one of our planned features of being able to market yourself with whatever your skills are, and be able to find the people with the skills you need to work together on projects. Thus creating partnerships for collaboration projects, contract projects or whatever kind of projects you need the benefits of other skilled users.

A quick introduction to the team and what we do has been established as well.

I've implemented the latest layout posted by QuikFox, and most of the features are live. The post create/reply slideout panels aren't functioning, and there's a few hardcoded values here and there, but most of it is working.

I'm not entirely pleased with that layout so I'm working on making it much nicer looking while using about the same amount of images. I'll work around anything you add to the pages however. It'll be just as flexible and light as the current layout.
