Well, when the hurricane was at Cuba, a weather station in Florida was keeping in touch with a Cuban weather station, giving them updates on the hurricane and such by use of a "HAM Radio". Since they didn't know what was happening during the storm. (i.e. the exact area of where the hurricane was [it was in Cuba obviously at the time, but where the eye was and such])

I live in Miami (south east Florida), so nothing special has been happening, other than some unusually high speed winds. No rain though. Supposedly, the Tampa area hasn't gotten this big of a hurricane in 50 years. And I got a friend in Tampa. >_< Hope he's okay...

Hurricane Charley has long passed over Cuba, and at the time it was at 105MPH. Now it's 145MPH and heading into Florida. I heard about 4 people died in Cuba, but now that the storm is Cat 4, instead of Cat 2, I wonder how many people will lose their life in Florida.

Also, take your "American's only give a damn about themselves" and shove it up your ass. We spend more of our taxes helping other nations than any other country, including yours.

You've had worse? When and where? This is the most powerful hurricane to hit Florida sinced Andrew in 1992. This is the worst Hurricane to hit this part of Florida since 1960, and I believe it's worse than that storm was.

They are saying it should maintain hurricane force winds all the way across Florida.

I don't know where you've been, but there's a good chance it might even go right over Orlando. But you can't properly predict weather. Out technology can only do so much. We can't predict exactly where it's going to go over. After Charley hit land, it was possible for it to expand. It's possible for it to expand and engulf all of Florida... Yikes, this thing is big.

The hurricane's eye has come upon us, and is now heading northeast through Florida, heading straight torwards Orlando. Expect the storm to reach the Orlando/Metro West area by about 8 PM tonight. It has begun to rain in Kissimmee...

I hope that everyone in the general area of this devastating storm will be safe, as well as their friends, family, and their loved ones. Even those who have already been affected in Cuba.

Maybe the worst to hit that side of FL, but Andrew in 1992 was a Cat 5 and was worse than Charley.

WOAH. That's like tornado force winds. For several hours. I'm willing to bet most buildings in the path of the hurricane are going to be severely owned.
