Welcome to RAC 7

One of the biggest events for the Newgrounds audio community is about to go into it's 7th event and some major changes in the format will make this edition even more exciting!. The RAC (Represent A Country) Contest is a huge event in which artists can represent a country through their music in a variety of creative ways. Some artists previously in the contest have gone on to become big names in the NG community and it is also a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to meet other artists and make new friends.

Key Dates

6 Aug - Contest Launch
3rd Sept - Recommended Submission Date*
16th Sept - Submission Deadline
21st sept - Votes Deadline
24th Sept - Results Week

If there is a semi final the above 2 dates will apply to the semi-final only and the contest will be extended by one week, meaning that the final Votes deadline will be 29th and that the Final results week will start on the 1st October.

*This is the best time to submit in order to promote your song and gain more points.

How To Take Part
Make sure you familiarise yourself with how the contest works by reading the rules and how the contest works pages. Once you do that also check to see which countries have applied so far, when you're ready to apply fill in the form below and post it in this thread:

Once you have posted this wait to be confirmed by me! (This should take less than 24 hours)

The Top 5

The top 5 are the countries that obtained the top 5 places from the last contest. These countries are automatically in the final if we have to have a semi-final. The acts that participated as those countries last time have first take at the countries, but not all of them have been taken, the ones that are available are free to claim by anyone, but they still keep the top 5 status.

Yes, we have gone back to open format, with me approving as soon as I can. There should be an edition during the summer and winter periods of each year now! :)

The winner of this contest will simply be the one whose song is the most popular, regardless of musicality, or whether it actually conveys the feeling of the country it's supposed to represent.

Also the fact that winners are also determined by self-promoting this year further increases the chance that anyone, regardless of musicality or production ability can win.

Well the jury do mark representation and production. And I trust that the participants themselves can vote for what sounds good and what does the job for that country. Promotion only accounts for 1 3rd of the final result.

The final scores aren't determined just by the one factor, the winner has to be good at everything across the whole board and popular with all the voters.

I don't think there's anything wrong with having to promote your music and get more support, that's how it works everywhere else....

Uncredited traditional themes are allowed, but make sure that your composition is original and that the existing theme doesn't take a dominating role.
