I would join, but most of the countries that I'm familiar with have already been taken, and I don't know if I have the inspiration and time to do research on other countries.

What about Russia, Spain, Italy? There are plenty of well known countries left!
Have a look at this list, I'm sure you'll find something :)

You're going for VATICAN CITY!? I thought you were going for Sealand?
Okay, now the heat is really on.
I'm a regular with liturgical music (and it is my best genre, and one of my favourites), so this is something to watch. If that didn't give away a part of me, I don't know what will.

I figured it'd be a fun departure from my usual repertoire. Plus, it'll give me a chance to do what I always want to do, take traditional genres and make them popular. :)

When you're ready upload your music to the audio portal and then post the link in this thread :)

I imagine it would -- anyone who represents the Vatican well will have a title-clincher in his hands!

If you're talking about the entries on the first page of the thread, they were the winners in last year's RAC.

Where do we account for our influences and research? In the track description? Also, are youtube and spotify links allowed? :) Aaaand finally one annoying question - can I upload the track with a brief description now and expand on it later?

Youtube, Vimeo, Wikipedia, Encarta, newspaper... are fine. I think we can just do whatever you learned in highschool/college: cite your sources. Write a thesis, summary or/and introduction paragraph in the description. Link all the references into an online text such as pastebin.com, pastesite.com, anonpaste.org, etc... and put the text link(s) in the end your description.
Well, that's what I'm doing. I also going to cite my sources of sample, so I don't get bug by the judges.

Teeheehee, we never know! :P
But in all honesty (and HFX and I are one mind on this) the Vatican is more beautifully associated with traditional music forms.

In your research, you can edit it as much as you want and that also includes the track itself, everything will not be checked and marked until the deadline, you could publish your track and use your promotion period to improve on your entry before the judges mark it! If people PM me for advice I'm always more than happy to give it! :)
Any kind of link is allowed, as long as it shows your research. :)

Alright, sounds great! :)
I actually feel pretty finished with my track, so here goes - my submission for the RAC!

Hope you all like it - I was born into a family of folk musicians, so it was great fun incorporating Swedish folk traditions in my writing so profoundely.
Kinda wished I could've made it a bit longer for the sake of form, but oh well.. managed to stay inside the timeframe by 3 seconds ;)
