It's a logo of the fictional Ikura company that created this tamagotchi toy. That kanji had to be related to caviar as far as I remember (but I might be wrong). It was so long ago that I've forgotten to be honest.

Thanks. Game of cards works like simplified poker. You can choose cards that you want to replace in your hand and after that game checks if you have any winning combination of cards.
There are many options which will result in a hung or frozen game. If this happens, it does no good to reload the game but you must delete your save file and start all over, this time choosing different options.
In particular never tell him you're his master as that route is one which will lead down the road to a hung/frozen state after one of the dialogues later on.

i cant even keep a octopus alive for more than 2 minuets :( awesome game and i love the animations and the different activities you can do with the pet

I was experimenting with controls back then and they're not very convenient. Guess they're the reason of the short lifespan of your pet. I still want to return to this game to tweak controls and add an alternative ending, but I don't have much spare time nowadays. Hope I'll fulfill this plan one day :)
