We have a fair bit :) Need to say that's a fucking fantastic tune, haven't had a 7 minute song hold my attention like that for a long time. Beautiful

Not sure if it's been asked before, but what're your guys' opinions on drumstep?

I mean, on paper it sounds amazing. Take two of my favorite genres and mix them together? Awesome.

But I've yet to find any drumstep that is pleasing to the ears. The two just don't mix well, like ice cream and steak or something.

I keep listening, trying to enjoy it, because I used to dislike DnB and Dubstep before I truly gave them a listen... but so far, drumstep isn't looking as promising.

Yeahhh, it was brought up a bit further up the page and a few pages back, I love Drumstep. What tracks have you listened to so far to not make you like it?

I have this huge remix dubstep album, I believe left by my nephew.

All that was written on the CD was "Do you like bass?".

If anyone can identify it for me, that would be cool.

If anyone wants a copy I'd be happy to share. It has about 41 tracks on it.

The kind of old they just don't make anymore!

There's a massive hate band wagon ongoing in the dubstep community against mt eden, I remember reading somewhere that alot of the worst mt eden tracks are made by other people and put on youtube to keep his rep down. Personally I don't understand how he's got to the level of popularity he is now, massively over rated. May be due to the fact that it's the first tune that comes up on yt if you just type in 'dubstep'

All the tracks uploaded on that account are fake, but I had a great laugh when I came across them. I have to agree with you there, that he is pretty overrated. I've never been a fan, and I don't really see what people like about his stuff. It's pretty derivative if you ask me and his producing skills are mediocre. But I suppose most people wouldn't care about that.

I guess i should count myself lucky it isn't 21 here, just quite terrorizing not being able to go to anything here, especially with Sub focus, High contrast and Joker coming this month D:

aaah that's the complete opposite end of Manchester to me then ! :P

To be honest mate, I think we're incredibly lucky to live in Manchester, not only because it means we only need to be 18 to get into clubs/pubs, but for the simple fact that we have some of the best promoters in the dubstep genre anywhere in the world. Putting on a night is not difficult, the reason most people don't do it is because they are too lazy, we have so many decent promoters in Manchester with good taste in dubstep, which means we get such a diverse range of quality dubstep handed to us on a plate every week. I don't think I could name a artist who I've wanted to see from the dnb/ dubstep spectrum that hasn't played Manchester at least once.

News to me that! I dunno, I think this is categorically bad news, I don't think it gets anymore mainstream and commercial than britney spears, it's gona generate alot of interest in dubstep from the commercial music industry, she's just jumping on the bangwagon because it's something she can profit from and it's got a 'clubber' vibe, it is not true to her style and is certainly NOT the music she has ever made before. It's gona push dubstep even further out of the underground and be marketed for a market instead of being a freeflow of consumption and production by dubstep fans. And most importantly, the dubstep cut of the track itself is crap!

Freakshow (Instrumental) (early 2006)

Some critics have also seen a dubstep influence in the Britney Spears song "Freakshow" (from her 2007 album Blackout), which Tom Ewing describes as "built around the 'wobbler' effect that's a genre standby."[67][68]

dubstep commercial rant

I agree with you about the whole commercialisation of Dubstep and how the mainstream Dubstep is shit and all that, but it's bound to happen once it becomes popular in the US. It's nothing to fret about, the underground and *real* dubstep scene won't be affected; sure, there'll be wannabe dickheads for a bit but they'll eventually move onto the next thing.

Hey, Drum and Bass survived the mainstream storm pretty well.

meh, that's just a remix, and there seems to be a dub remix of every vaguely popular track ever.

I feel like I've been into this in alot more depth in my full fledged rant a few pages back, tbh I'm not as pissed as I probably sound, I heard a long time ago that britney was producing with rusko so I knew something like this was coming.

Hey, Drum and Bass survived the mainstream storm pretty well.

That's some optimism at least :))
