Expect a lot of news posts this month, as I’ll be announcing recipients of our Annual Drawing Tablet Giveaway while also highlighting cool things that happened on NG this year!
Drawing Tablet 9 - Greatjigglypuff
Today’s tablet recipient is @Greatjigglypuff, who participated in the Cult of the Lamb Jam last year. Their tablet no longer works and they’ve been drawing with paper and pencil ever since.
With a new tablet, Greatjigglypuff intends to go back to digital!
2023 Highlight - Eddsworld Charity Art Contest
June 6th was the 20th anniversary of the first @Eddsworld cartoon on Newgrounds. To honor Edd’s legacy and raise money for charity, @BadTwinZ suggested an Eddsworld Charity Art Contest.
In total we raised $1,230 for Young Lives vs Cancer and another $1,230 for prizes!
The art contest portion of the event resulted in 161 Eddsworld fan art entries.
Today we’re gonna revisit the winners and see what else they’ve been up to this year!
First place went to @GhenSaur with EDD-PLOSION!!!
This was one of many great pieces by GhenSaur this year, here’s a bunch more.
Second place went to @tomee-bear with Zombeh Invasion.
This year tomee-bear shared various art from previous years, along with two new pieces, one of which is @OneyPlays fan art featuring @Oney, @psychicpebbles, @TomaMoto and @LyleRath.
Third place went to Eddsworld Contest Entry by @TwoHeadedAnimal, a joint account representing @Squid-Died and @ClumsyClown. This was before we introduced Art Portal Multi-Author in September, so I’ve updated the piece now to have each account credited.
Squid-Died and ClumsyClown made a bunch of other cool art this year, here’s a bunch!
The fourth place winner was @Adamas28, with Eddsworld 20 Years Anniversary.
That piece is really cool, this event really was anyone’s game. Adamas28 shared a bunch of other great art this year and also got involved with the NG Fishing Collab!
@TheGaboefects took fifth with The End - Eddsworld X2.
TheGaboefects recently participated in the William and Sly Art Contest and makes all sorts of cool Flipnote art and animation.
Sixth place went to @pepperbunny with EDDWORLD20.
Pepperbunny shared a few other art pieces this year and had previously made an entry for the Friday Night Funkin’ Jam in 2021.
Seventh place was @AztecAngler with Edd & Chums Look Towards New Horizons.
This was AztecAngler’s only art this year but he also participated in @MegaMotion’s Sonic the Hedgehog ReJuiced - Sonic Racer - SatAM Anniversary Reanimation Collab.
The eighth and final winner was @TravelSizedLions with Clever Disguises.
TravelSizedLions also made some cool pixel art this year and participated in the 1-Bit Artapalooza - Spooky Edition!!
He also shared some music, made a game and participated in the Creature Collab!
That wraps it up for our Eddsworld Charity Contest retrospective. It was great to be able to celebrate Edd, while also raising money for charity and getting to see some wonderful art!
