I have no idea who you are, but just so you know, 17-year-olds aren't being excluded from this meet at all. Quite a few people coming to this are under 18. It's just that you won't be able to get into the sex museum, which is on the meet-up schedule, but I'm starting to have second thoughts about it. I'm starting to think it may not be the best idea to do it on any of the main meet days, but if it's really that important to anyone coming, we'll probably go as a smaller group on Friday. However, be aware that closing time is 6:30 PM, and I don't know if everyone flying in will be here early enough.

Yeah, if you manage to find a generous room discount on Hotwire, Expedia or Priceline, that price range sounds about right. However, in many of the busiest areas (especially around the meet-up site), hotel rooms around here can actually exceed $350/night (including taxes) if you were to pay in full. Hopefully most people coming to this meet won't have to pay that much per night for a hotel room, so I recommend looking for discounts early. The really cheap hotels on the much lower end of that price range, however, are mostly in the outer boroughs.

I personally think a very good place outside of Manhattan to look for cheap rooms is in the Long Island City section of Queens. Long Island City is as close as you can get to Manhattan from Queens, and I've found that there are a lot of cheap and good rooms around there (about $67/night, $72/night, $99/night, etc.). It's also just directly south of the neighborhood I live in, which is Astoria.

If you WANT A CHEAPER ROOM, share with me. I can't book rooms because I'm 17, but you can get a great deal by not only finding a discount but halving your room costs with me. I will be in New York City for three nights, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but I don't mind shuffling rooms if it's necessary. However I figure that at least a couple people are, like me, staying until Monday morning due to lengthy transport or some other reason, and I ask those people to consider halving their room costs. I would like to get to the airport at 8:30 AM on Monday.

This is something worth discussing, but I'm not sure how keen most people here are on museums in general. The good thing is that unlike the Museum of Sex, MoMA isn't age restrictive, so I don't have to think about where to put everyone else while the adults are in there. I'll wait and see what some other people here think before making a final call on this one.
