WTF LOLOLOLOL

You're not on the list because at the time I submitted all of the names to Luis, you said that passport problems had prevented you from being able to attend. I see now that's no longer the case, though. Just wait until Luis checks this thread again so he can add your name on there.

You can glance at most of the attendees on Luis' hub page for the meet. Danny, Twilight, SeeInTheDark, OneGunn, Homosecksual and Shikamarana are the only 6 people I know of who are under 18--the rest are obviously 18+.

Thanks for the info.

Good to see I won't be the only adult there.

Now how about a list of everyone attending who is 18 & over, with long hair; and smells nice! :P

I updated the hub. Also no, Danny, London is still winning with 69 attendees last year. This will probably be the largest one on the us coast tho. If people actually show up. I'm always iffy about NY. But ya, ok back to work.

Probably would have been easier to have someone with talent do that, i'd find such a shoddy poster to be a rather insulting greeting, I'd probably steal your numerous bags of treats and spit them at you as punishment.

But hey, hypothetical.

Can some of you suspend your personalities on here until the meetup so I don't feel quite as anxious that I'm meeting up with several weirdos? Thanks.

Keith: I realize that you're staying in a hotel now having checked through and seen your response. I'm again still hoping to crash with somebody who has residence in NYC (preferably not someone who lives with their parents) and a spare 6'5" x 2'6" patch of comfortable floor to let me sleep on. Why? Because I don't want to pay for a hotel, nor do I want to end up staying in someone else's hotel room for free ('cause I hate feeling like a freeloader).

Who am I contacting if I get lost somewhere in the city upon arrival? Gory's in charge of the meet, right? Has he posted his phone number somewhere... if not Gory could you PM it to me? I don't think it's likely that I'll need to call anybody because I've got google maps on my phone and a pretty keen sense of direction both on foot, en auto, and on the subway.

Just checked the site and am realizing this is 31 days away. Shiiiit that's close.

I just PMed you my number right now, and if anyone else needs it doesn't know it yet, let me know.

Well, your NY is paying rent for that spot of floor you'd be crashing on...
So isn't this also considered freeloading?

Response to New York City Meet-up 2010 2010-02-08 21:20:22

So tempted to go...

If I can just scrape together enough money to buy a plane from LA... :'(

Sounds like chunks of funs.

No, because they pay the same rent regardless of whether or not some dude is discovered to have slept on the floor for the night. Which is not necessarily true for Hotels. And they'll get a case of beer and/or some liquor out of the deal (or something else cool if they don't drink).

It's not really that I don't have the money to spend on a hotel, it's just that when I weigh my options I'm a lot more likely to want to drive 7 hours out of my way for a weekend of fun with DIFFERENT faces and scenery if it's costing me transportation, booze, food, and fun vs. an extra 100 bucks for a place to crash.

It's not a huge deal... I just remembered I have a cousin and HS buddy in DC if worse comes to worst and I CAN afford to get a hotel. It's just an expense that I'd rather not incur because the prospect of spending that much on my budget is unattractive.

No, they are still the same as stated in my original post (March 13th and 14th). Some people will be arriving on March 12th, but the main meet starts the following morning at around 10 AM on the 13th.

This lil meet up will be quite interesting. Unlike the other meet-ups not a lot of big name NGers will be present this time 'round.

There are a lot of cheap hotels in the queens area, but I don't know if that is out of the way or what. Also a few in long island (which is where the people I know are) but I'm not sure how to prioritize these things.

The closest Queens neighborhood to Midtown is Long Island City, and yes, that neighborhood has a lot of incredibly low hotel deals that I think more people should be taking advantage of. Overall, it doesn't matter where you book--I think anyone who is serious about saving money should seriously think about booking a hotel outside Manhattan, and I'll try to help anyone who needs it.

Yeah it's actually insulting of Danny to assume that outsiders of the city have never seen cons, or conned items before.

Not everyone is thick.
