Actually, I'm gonna be staying with Luis, so you'll need to check with him if there's any room left on the floor :P

This goes out not just to you, but everyone else considering going for only one day: be sure to say whether it's day 1 or day 2.

I've seen people sleeping in hotel closets so I know damn well I could convince him to let me at least stay in the tub.

Actually, things might have gotten a bit more complicated. Seems I might be switching jobs soon and the new company has a policy that you can't miss a day for the first 90 days while they're training you. Of course the meet falls within that 90 day window and flying from Chicago to New York for one day seems a bit unnecessary. This is all hypothetical at this point, but if I were offered a job with the new company, I probably wouldn't be able to make it.

Read my post on page 7. But as it's looking right now, day 2 is mostly going to be spent in Brooklyn except for the morning. We'll start off by meeting again at the same Bryant Park entrance as day 1, then walk over to Times Square and take the Q over to Atlantic Avenue, where Buffalo Wild Wings is. Then after that, we'll take the Q again down to West 8th Street and Surf Avenue, go over to the Aquarium, then have some hot dogs/hang around the boardwalk/whatever.

Ah butternuggets....i live in brooklyn but i have no idea how to get to bryant park. I'm more familiar with manhattan..ok...i'll try and make Day 1...the problem is by going around on the weekend the trainlines change. I really don't like taking the subway on the weekends because i run the risk of getting lost. You'll be in manhattan at day 2? i might be able to make it later.

We'll only be in Manhattan during the morning of day 2, and that's just to meet at the park. Once everyone is gathered, we'll proceed to go over to Brooklyn.

Where in Brooklyn do you live? Just take the B, D or F to 42nd and Bryant Park (the V and 7 trains also stop at the station, but neither train stops anywhere in Brooklyn).

There is a tiny chance that I'll be able to go to this. I'd need a place to stay though, and preferably someone to latch on to who knows there way around New York.

I've lived here my whole life, so of course I know my way around here.

Sorry I can't help you with having a place to stay, but hopefully at least one of the older attendees can.

But seriously, Central Park closes at 1 AM. Sleeping there isn't an option unless you're good at hiding.

I'm sure the park staff and the cops stationed at the Central Park precinct search the park to look for people who aren't supposed to be there late at night. But yeah, I can think of places all around the park you can probably get away with hiding at successfully.

Nah, it's not worth the risk to sleep overnight at Central Park. Personally, I would personally feel safer sleeping overnight in places like the Staten Island Greenbelt, or out in some of the woods in Riverdale, but those places can be hard to get to for people who aren't familiar with NYC.

Hey not trying to Shanghai your topic Gory but just to let everyone know i dont have classes on Monday the day after the NG meet up. So if any of you are staying after the weekend you can meet me and i'll take you on my own little tour around Manhattan. I'm a walker so if the weathers good and you don't mind it we may end up walking 30 blocks. Don't worry in NYC you don't even notice it. Anyway if anyones interested let me know. If you'd rather explore NY on your own i can tell you some nice spots anyways.

Hopefully I can be available on Monday too. Also, for everyone flying in early: you can arrange to have a mini-meet with me at some point on Friday, the morning before the actual meet begins.

Well, I'm open to it, but I'm not certain about my availability on that particular Monday at this point in time.

And yeah, 30 blocks is nothing. We'll probably end up walking a hell of a lot more than that on day 1 of the meet. On the last day of the 2005 transit strike, I did about 22 miles of walking in total for the entire day covering much of Queens and Manhattan. Could I pull it off again just for the fun of it? More than likely, I can.

Anyway if anyones interested let me know. If you'd rather explore NY on your own i can tell you some nice spots anyways.

All right, I'll strongly consider it.

Since Gory isn't going to warn anyone i will. The NYC transit gets insanely crazy on the weekends. So before you all go out for this weekend i suggest you make this site your friend.

http://tripplanner.mta.info/NewTP/servic eAdvisories/ServiceAdvisoryAll.aspx

There are a lot of transfers because some trains don't run properly and it can get very confusing. You may have to switch over to three different trains to get to where you are going, because they skip stops sometimes. And if any of you are going out late at night it's pretty much the same. So either use this site or watch NY1 for service changes. Check to make sure your trains aren't crazy. And ALWAYS carry around a map and lots of money. Getting lost on a weekend, and i speak from experience, is terrifying, if you don't know what trains are changed who knows where you'll end up.

Since I can't rent a hotel room in ny I will probably just not go to sleep or take the latest train home the first night.

Similar to my scenerio, just going to take the met back home the first night and decide in the morning if I want to go back for the 2nd day

DeLuca and I are still having problems finding an adult to book our room, check us in, and check us out. DeLuca and I have money. We are going to pay for the room. ALL WE NEED is someone to book it, check us in, and check us out. Because they have rules about being 21 or older in order to book a room. I will be only 20 and DeLuca is..I forgot...19 or so. Idk.

Regardless! Please, we're begging you. We need someone. Anyone! We're going a day in advance to familiarize ourselves with the place. We're looking for someone to be there the 12th with us and stay until the 14th with us OR someone to be there the 12th and stay somewhere else, but still leave on the 14th to check us out.

Really it's not that hard, people. Just anyone 21 or over. People who live in NYC, do you think maybe we could borrow a parent or an "of age" friend? Please? I'm dead serious that this needs to happen in order for us to be able to go =/

We're very reliable. We'll have the money for the room and all just please help us get into it! Please for the love of Fulp.

For everyone who is coming to this meet by plane or is taking a long bus ride, I'm going to reiterate exactly what I said in my first post: let me know approximately when you are going to arrive at NYC, and if you have your departure information, let me know that too. If you don't know this info yet (and I know it's still December), let me know as soon as you do. This is crucial in deciding precisely when the best time is to start the meet and when to end it. As it looks now, the start time could be anywhere between 10 AM - 2 PM on day 1 and the end time could be something like 5 - 9 PM the next day.
