New York City Meet-up 2013

Where: New York, NY (and perhaps stops at some of the other boroughs), with the meet starting at the same place it has always started since March 2010--in front of the defunct ticket counters at Grand Central.
When: Saturday, June 22, 2013 - Sunday, June 23, 2013 (with a chance that we might do something on Friday, June 21st for whoever is coming in that night/day)
What: This is the 4th annual NG NYC meet, and the first one we're holding in the summer. People have been asking about the status of this meet forever, and I've even flirted with the idea with moving it to LI, but we may do a separate LI meet later on depending on how many people would be interested.

As usual, make sure you come to this meet financially prepared, and I'm going to do the best I can to make sure there's something to do even for people who don't have a lot of money. Your expenses are your responsibility--remember that, because it's very important to keep in mind.

If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions regarding the meet, post them here. Those of you that plan on going should keep up with this thread with the most current news relating to the itinerary and any changes. Chances are that we are going to do the usual meet and greet, eating, drinking, karaoke, hookah bar, regular bar...all that stuff. Maybe bowling again and perhaps laser tag or something else we haven't done in the past. None of this is free, BTW--if you don't have the money to pay for this stuff, then too bad, but in fairness to everyone, I'm going to choose what I believe to be the most reasonably priced venues for our social activities. Weather conditions at the time of the meet will greatly influence what we're able to do or not do. I'm also going to make a Facebook event page for this meet, which will also contain the most current information, If you already have me friended, I'll likely invite you to it anyway...if you don't have me friended and want to go, PM me.

However, I don't know exactly where I'd sleep. I don't want to bunk with anyone because that's rude especially since I hardly know most of you.

Are there any cheap motels/hotels around there?

Also this would be my first trip to NYC and an NG meet if I do get the chance to go.

Well if you plan on coming for a day. Say Saturday for the main hangout. Laser tag/bowling will most likely be some where in the range of $20-$25 not including food. Now if you're going for the Karaoke/hooka bar/regular bar night you're looking at about $8-$20~(could be higher if your of legal age to drink).

I would say maybe $100-$150 since you have to take into consideration the subway rides and if you want to do some shopping of other variety. Now if you plan on staying the weekend(fri-monday) at someones house(which I'm trying to arrange still for my self) I went last year and found that $300 suffice me enough to get though a 5 day stretch.

Like I said if any of you older gentlemen have a spare floor/ couch it be nice to enjoy a weekend(fri-monday) in New York again instead of 1 day. I don't know if my original place I stayed at is up for stay yet.

I didn't forget--I was just late only because I had to pick up and talk to NGers at Penn Station before heading to Grand Central. Sorry I couldn't have been earlier. I hope that doesn't happen again this time. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I'll just head right to Grand Central in the morning without doing any pick-ups.

Since my financial situation is ass now I won't know where I stand until the start of June on this.

But if anyone wants to help me pay off my college payment (I'm already 20,000 in debt) then I could confirm now, but if not we will have to see where I'm at in June.

When I met Quarl last year, we were practically best friends.

I've been to about 4 meet ups so far and let me tell you that these guys are really nice people and they sure LOVE to drink ;)

I know I'm not in any position to try and tell people how to hold a meet but we are gonna be in New York why the fuck are we gonna play poker when we are in New York. We can play online poker if you want to do that.
