Hate it when I make such foolish mistakes of merely forgetting one more I in such terms as Phenom II X4. I did have a feeling about it though. Kill me. + I just noticed you're all very moody recently. Women.

If I mixed those with my 800MHz 2GB sticks (which I have two of installed already) would that hurt anything, and how large a performance decrease or increase would I see? If it's a minimal increase without it hurting anything, I'll still do it. I want to get as much out of this comp until I upgrade as possible.

Well, in order for that to work, you would have to be able to get all 4 sticks to run at the same speed. So, all 4 sticks will be running at the specs of the slower ones. Because you have a locked bios, there isn't even a guarantee of that. Just pop 'em in, and if you don't POST, take 'em out.

So I wanted to ask a small question.
I have a 500 GB ATA drive. I used to have it connecter by USB, however I was sick of having it unaesthetically tangling outside my comp, so I connected it through a converter (the are no ATA connectors on my motherboard). And now my computer starts abnormally slow. Can that be the cause of this? It's not even the system drive dammit!

For Sale: Thermaltake Blue Orb II cooler

$25+shipping

This cooler worked great before switching it out for a TRUE, keeps an e8500 OCed to 3.8 under 55C.

I only have mounting hardware for 775, but it'd be awesome if anyone wants to buy it.

I had this same problem a while back. The ATA hdd is much slower than newer drives so the newer drives slow down in terms of performace to compensate. This is what you are experiencing, to get performance back up you will either need a new hdd to replace it or connect it back up to usb

I'd say get a bigger screen for the same/a little more money.
And get a nicer, full tower case. It's worth the $
By nicer, do you mean bigger?

So you guys know a lot about computers..
Can someone help me, my computer falls out every time that i play or watch something from flash, i don't know what's wrong..

what exactly happens? overheats or just shuts down?

It just shuts down, i don't know why but i hate it..
I already asked a lot of friends why it happens but nobody seems to know it.

French I'd like to congratulate you by getting Tom to notice you. He even posted your thread in the new news post. Nice.

just shuts down.

I'm not too fancy with the computers but you should probably re-download the newest flash. That or there's somthing up with the processor. Or maybe it's your internet browser

Is this a good deal, or do you know if I could either find a better custom job, or the parts to do it myself (I've learned pretty much how to assemble a computer)/

An 8400GS is no gaming card, I have doubts it would even handle HD playback. Ask him how much it would be to get a 9600GT instead. If he says anymore than 130CAD, pick up your own. Also, you won't see that much improvement in 8gigs over 4.

And yeah, the 9800gt will play most games fine.

You're such a dick recently, seriously. As if it makes any significant note worthy differences or for the matter of fact that he just wants to play a few games on low/med.

Considering that a 9800GT has 112 stream processors and it's core and memory clocks set to 600/1800; the 9800GTX has 16 more stream processors and clock speeds bumped up about 75~400 more MHz while being priced only 5$ more on Newegg. Small difference but it could pay off.

When I had my old case /w stock cooler I was overheating on cod4 with stock settings which caused crashes

I wasn't even aware the difference in price was that close. Actually, if you want to save yourself even more money, buy yourself the 250 rebrand; they seem to be cheaper.

Okay, making my first PC, and I'm pretty clueless so I just had someone spec it for me, and wanted to check if this stuff will work together and if it's any good.

Motherboard
Harddrive
Graphics card
Processor
Fan
RAM
PSU
DVD Drive
Case
Monitor

To be used for gaming, and monitor to double as TV for use with PS3 and 360.

Took a screenshot of the basket on the site rather than typing everything out if you don't want to have to follow links.

Help plz.

Quite pricy, and at any rate, your chosen model's cheaper here anyway.

But for example, this is a HD 23" monitor for £100 less.

Why yes, all the parts you mentioned will work together and the 4870 is really good bang for buck. It'll be a nice gaming / multimedia PC. Make sure you read enough manuals / view enough videos or ask friends to help when building your PC. You can easily wreck a CPU if not placed right.

Yeah, I'm not going to even open stuff until I'm confident I know what to do with it. I'm dead paranoid about stuff like this.

That's a different one and lacks the HDMI, which was the reason I chose that one. I'll pay the extra cash just to have that.

That would be quite ironic for this crew wouldn't it? A construction crew that buys premade PCs.
Though I must say that some of their PCs are somewhat price competitive, but it's always cheaper to make your own PC of course.

If you want something more powerful than that 4870 you can get a 4890 or 4850CF

As far as I know, the 360 and ps3 only upscale in a 16:9 monitor ratio. 1920x1200 is a 16:10 ratio, you might have trouble getting them to display on that screen.

Why would you pay (english symbol)100 more for just HDMI capability? It's just video and audio on one cord. It's nothing fantastic. Just get something cheaper with a DVI cable.

Also, may I suggest getting a full tower case?

And perhaps a better PSU if you plan to upgrade to crossfire in the future.

I got an awesome non-branded black (They were selling a variety of combos) HDMI/DVI-D cable with gold-plated connectors for 19.99$ at my local computer store. PS3 plays awesome on it and it's like 18'. Don't buy the rubbish pitch lines that cable vendors as Monster try to use to lure customers in.

They mainly mention only factors that should be considered when requiring a long connection solution in the 50~100 ft range (Ex. Signal decay (Does not effect the image quality due to it being digital, not analog)).

Also, may I suggest getting a full tower case?

It's good to have a full tower no matter what the future holds for it.
