Yeah, it'd be great if the bots couldn't heal themselves, the other bot had to heal it's partner and vice versa, it'd be an interesting to see if they choose to shoot and survive or heal there partner and win together :P. Sounds like some corny Disney movie or something now :P.

Yeah, that would be interesting. Kinda sick though, if one bot goes charging against everyone, shooting like hell, and the other one sits behind him healing him :P

After these battles, can we have another round where we only attack authorblues? I want to see how many people he can take on at once.

Also, i think i need to fix my "sit there and heal if health is too low" approach.

Also, out of interest how did you guys go about dodging bullets? I couldn't be bothered to go to great lengths to find the exact location of each bullet, so instead i just told mine to move if the enemy is aiming at me. What about you guys?

Grouping bullets by future location and avoiding their direction by importance.

I'll probably use a for loop to see if any are going to hit me between a certain amount of frames, then move perpendicular to whichever are closest. Or something. It should work provided I'm not being directly attacked from both sides.

find the closest bullet (make the assumption its coming toward you). find the vector from the bullet to me, and move perpendicular to that vector.

Lets think up of a list of loads of other AI battles we can have (non robot wars type things).

I was thinking we could have football (soccer). We could get into two teams and the players can interact with each other. There can be options to pass (and an angle to pass at), shoot (and an angle), tackle (and an angle) and move. Obviously you'd code your goaly differently depending on which player you are. ie defenders shouldn't be too far up pitch, and don't need too complex a shooting technique, but if the attacker wants to score, he must work out where the goaly is going to be and where to kick it. Likewise a goaly will need to work out when someone is going to shoot and where.

I think this could be cool, it would require people of all skills and a lot of cooperating with people on your team.

Another idea is AI for a bm tron battle.

Although this should probably go in another thread entirely.

A new robust system is now in place for keeping stats for all the bots. It now records all elements of gameplay, down to hit percentages and how many times you have hit an enemy. The scoreboards are now dynamic, and automatically pick up bots instead of having to rename them. You guys don't get to play with the file, but it will be used in the matches.

A lot of people are asking how the matches will be set up. Here's a scenario that could work:

Let's say there's 16 bots:

Day 1
Match 1: Bot 1 vs Bot 2 vs Bot 3 vs Bot 4
Match 2: Bot 5 vs Bot 6 vs Bot 7 vs Bot 8
Match 3: Bot 9 vs Bot 10 vs Bot 11 vs Bot 12
Match 4: Bot 13 vs Bot 14 vs Bot 15 vs Bot 16

Day 2
Match 5: Winners 1 and 2 from Match 1, Winners 1 and 2 from Match 2
Match 6: Winners 1 and 2 from Match 3, Winners 1 and 2 from Match 4

Day 3
Match 7: Winners 1 and 2 from Match 5, WInners 1 and 2 from Match 6. Winner is whoever's left
Free-For-All Battle
Exhibition matches

If we have extra players, they may have a bye for the first day of competition (they won't have to battle the first day). Any battle with 2 or less players in it will just have a bye for the day.

On day 3, we will have exhibition matches, where I will set up custom matches based on request.
