Speaking of MADNESS Day, I've enjoyed every flash I've watched that has gotten excellent reviews and high scores. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it, but I'm something of a save whore on Madness Day. At least 95% of the submissions are all so damn awesome. Course, when it comes to violence, blood, guts, gore, and guns, everyone is a save whore on Madness Day, right?
I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the flash that came out yesterday. It seems that, unlike some other days around here, people actually put effort into these. While not all were protect-worthy (obviously), a good percentage of them were...

Yeah, there seems to be a lot more good submissions than last year, although there are less. And I'm surprised at the amount of non-Madness Day flashes coming out today. Although they could just be looking for that stat whore going around and 5ing everything.
That could also just be people who were unfamiliar with the NG "holiday." Either that, or the people looking for a quick five. Luckily, at least as far as I've seen, people weren't really giving out the "blind five."

In other news, with the recent (and somewhat controversial) locking of the NGPD, I'd like to remind all Barracks members to keep up their post quality, both here and in other threads. There's nothing wrong with small talk amongst the business, but make sure we don't have whole pages of off-topic discussion; for topics that popular, just make a thread in our forums. And remember, no one-liner posts in the Barracks, and don't make a post solely to mention a stat milestone or upgrade; wait until you have relevant stuff to post and mention it then.
Agereed. Also, If there are any conversations turning into (or could be perceived as) arguments, it's best to move it off the main thread and use our own forums for it. We allow private bitchfests in there (within reason of course), and it's the safest place to put it. Don't think I'm calling anything we've said in here recently a real argument, but some of the threads of discussion could have been perceived as so. Obviously I don't like taking chances when we don't need to.
Also, should the locking of the NGPD be particularly lengthy (or permanent), its members are welcome to join the Barracks as Guardsmen until they reach Private rank and join properly, as long as they abide by our rules.
I love the idea, though I'm hoping it won't come to that. I'm sure the NGPD will come back after its due time.

The good old comfy barracks, same as always. Good to be back, but enough sentimentality, it seems by recent events that the NGPD has been locked and the warnings they got were there for a long time. All whilst the administrators prepare to brush the dust off an old "Madness Day" logo, print 2009 on it, and call it new & improved.
I for one think they could done fine with a little more hard work and caring (addressing to both issues).
In regards to your first point, I agree, the warnings were there, but I don't think the actions there as of late deserve a permanent lock, though I don't think that will be the case anyway. There's actually a thread in our private forums you might wish to post in regarding this.
As far as your second point, I don't think they're touting that at all. As a matter of fact, for the first 20 minutes it still said "Madness Day 2008" on the logo. While it was quite funny to see, I don't think it really marred anything and I certainly don't think their goal was to present it like some "new and improved" Madness Day graphic.
After all, how much could you really change it? It represents the flash series quite well and still looks pretty badass (at least to me).
Anyway, glad to see you around here again!
I think we're due for a *salute*...
