Hey, guys - Chapter 4 is up on the BBS now. I know Lizz, EagleRock and a few other fans have been waiting impatiently, so I moved it along as fast as I could. It's a little longer than chapter 3, but things are starting to build up, and plans are in motion...

And, before I forget -EagleRock, I loved chapter 28 - another cliffhanger, but it feels like we're getting close to the final confrontations. Nothing like a 6-way tag-team match to get the blood pumping - all over the ground! hehehe - Anyways, keep up the great work - we're all hooked!

I was simply talking about the ones that didn't, but of course you jump to conclusions and assume I was talking about most of the members. The word half was used for a reason.

Fair enough. I think that both of you have your points, but I do have to point out that michelinman makes a good point that a good portion of NGPD members do improve their post history, B/P practices, etc. because of the influence of the club's ideals. Not to say that all people shape up, but I think that the NGPD sure has a role in helping some of these members improve their "lifestyle" on NG. Either way, I don't want this to turn into a flame war, so I'd like future discussions inside our own forums. However, I'd say this has sufficiently died out, anyway.

An early happy birthday? I won't have any of that. It's like wiping before you poop. :P

Nice. Thanks for the visual... :-/

Things I love to hear. I'll be sure to check it as soon as I get the time to read it.

I'm still plodding along, here. Chapter 29 is almost polished and complete, and 30 is half-written. We're moving along in my story as well!

And yes, a 6 on 6 bloodbath was a good match to have at the point in time...and apparently Wadolf agrees... :-P

I didn't get to see the banner myself, but I noticed this thread about it. Of course, that wasn't the only thread about it.

Also, I'm loving both EGB stories, I wish there were more people writing fan-fiction about the EGB, it's so damn entertaining!

Don't look at me, I'm writing something already with something else in the planning stage. Maybe some other time. Or I could just postpone Destructive God in Eastern Paradise, not like I've yet started it anyway... Kylapharos and Finwariel is my main project though, for if and when the Lit Portal comes out.

Well, once my story is over, I still have plans to make a sequel that involves those currently in the Barracks...I'll probably work off the current roster or something, I'll figure it out...

Bah, you can't blame me. You made the lock come across in a really "it was only a matter of time" manner. That's more of what I was disagreeing with, not so much the content of your post.

You were talking about the good ones and I was talking about the not so good ones. Doesn't mean that we were disagreeing even though you took it that way...

You see where I was coming from though right? Not trying to start a big shitfest, just pointing out that the NGPD does a lot for the NG community.

Hopefully nothing ever pops up that is that big of an argument that it needs to be carried over into the forums. And Chapter 29 is out? I'm only on ten I believe. I need to get crackin on these things. Haha.

Some where in the NGPD forum I wrote a 2 (?) part story about Clock Day, and was planning to continue it into the EGB when I moved up to here, but never did. I'll see if I can dig it up and repost it in the EGB forums.

Then, if you guys want, I'll continue it.

I don't know if i'll flag that. It's just a blank screen that is just going to get blammed :::thats if they even wait for it to load::: I'm on the line about this one, if you think so you can flag it. Personally i think i will be blammed before enough people flag it.

There's a lot of people that vote 5 on blank screens when they are a high file size assuming that it's just taking a while to load and since it's so big it must be good. Statwhores and whatnot. I didn't whistle that one either to be honest, I just felt it was best to show you guys this so that people who actually give a shit vote on it while it's UJ. Not encouraging mass voting, just sayin it something you guys should see. :P *dodges banhammer*

Ya, i waited for a few seconds for it to load and then i looked at who submitted it and well just thought to myself "this is probaly nothing" So after i waited for it to load i just voted what i though it deserved. I Do agree that there were probaly some users who just wanted there point and just voted 4-5 regardless of what they thought about it :::it's really a sad thing:::.

Haha, funny you should mention that. I'm currently writing an EGB fanfic myself. So far I'm on the prologue, but I'd say I'm about 50% done with the first draft. After that, I'll revise it and post it up. Expect it in the next few days.

Also, I've noticed that from the movies that I have watched today, 90% of them are legitimate submissions where authors truly worked hard to create something good to offer to the portal. There are always few bad apples in a bunch, but I'm impressed with Madness Day this year.

Oh, and I'm bringing this back for old-time's sake.

I think you made your point. It's not whistleworthy, but damn if it won't fool half of the stat-whores out there. Damn good thing there are still people out there that, you know, actually vote on a movie they've seen.

I have to admit, though, some of the clock crew flashes made me laugh, as they took advantage of the nature of people not watching videos, or watching the first 10 seconds of it. It started out in a nice, serious plot...looked to be a quality CC flash. Then, about 60 seconds in, after almost reaching a climactic part of it, it goes to a picture of Tricky. Fucking epic.

Ya, i waited for a few seconds for it to load and then i looked at who submitted it and well just thought to myself "this is probaly nothing" So after i waited for it to load i just voted what i though it deserved. Yeah, that's kinda what we do here...not mass-vote. But I think if we had to talk about an UJ flash in here, that one would be the one.

Speaking of MADNESS Day, I've enjoyed every flash I've watched that has gotten excellent reviews and high scores. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit it, but I'm something of a save whore on Madness Day. At least 95% of the submissions are all so damn awesome. Course, when it comes to violence, blood, guts, gore, and guns, everyone is a save whore on Madness Day, right?

Yeah, there seems to be a lot more good submissions than last year, although there are less. And I'm surprised at the amount of non-Madness Day flashes coming out today. Although they could just be looking for that stat whore going around and 5ing everything.

It is September 23, and the bi-annual EGB rollcall has begun. I have sent out PM's to every member of the September roster (with the exception of Insanimation and Krev, who have since left the Barracks); I don't believe we've had any new recruits this month. If you did not receive a PM from me, let me know immediately.

After the rollcall is over (September 30 is the deadline), the EGB roster will be far more up-to-date and accurate, and then we'll begin the Officer Assessment---going through the current positions, determining if any positions are not currently needed (or if any new positions should be created), and determine if the current officers can/should maintain their posts.

We'll also be straightening up the EGB forums to ease access and procedure, as well as making it far more clear who is responsible for what in regards to reporting rulebreaking flash/art/etc..

In other news, with the recent (and somewhat controversial) locking of the NGPD, I'd like to remind all Barracks members to keep up their post quality, both here and in other threads. There's nothing wrong with small talk amongst the business, but make sure we don't have whole pages of off-topic discussion; for topics that popular, just make a thread in our forums. And remember, no one-liner posts in the Barracks, and don't make a post solely to mention a stat milestone or upgrade; wait until you have relevant stuff to post and mention it then.

Also, should the locking of the NGPD be particularly lengthy (or permanent), its members are welcome to join the Barracks as Guardsmen until they reach Private rank and join properly, as long as they abide by our rules.

The good old comfy barracks, same as always. Good to be back, but enough sentimentality, it seems by recent events that the NGPD has been locked and the warnings they got were there for a long time. All whilst the administrators prepare to brush the dust off an old "Madness Day" logo, print 2009 on it, and call it new & improved.

I for one think they could done fine with a little more hard work and caring (addressing to both issues).

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the flash that came out yesterday. It seems that, unlike some other days around here, people actually put effort into these. While not all were protect-worthy (obviously), a good percentage of them were...

That could also just be people who were unfamiliar with the NG "holiday." Either that, or the people looking for a quick five. Luckily, at least as far as I've seen, people weren't really giving out the "blind five."

Agereed. Also, If there are any conversations turning into (or could be perceived as) arguments, it's best to move it off the main thread and use our own forums for it. We allow private bitchfests in there (within reason of course), and it's the safest place to put it. Don't think I'm calling anything we've said in here recently a real argument, but some of the threads of discussion could have been perceived as so. Obviously I don't like taking chances when we don't need to.

I love the idea, though I'm hoping it won't come to that. I'm sure the NGPD will come back after its due time.

In regards to your first point, I agree, the warnings were there, but I don't think the actions there as of late deserve a permanent lock, though I don't think that will be the case anyway. There's actually a thread in our private forums you might wish to post in regarding this.

As far as your second point, I don't think they're touting that at all. As a matter of fact, for the first 20 minutes it still said "Madness Day 2008" on the logo. While it was quite funny to see, I don't think it really marred anything and I certainly don't think their goal was to present it like some "new and improved" Madness Day graphic.

After all, how much could you really change it? It represents the flash series quite well and still looks pretty badass (at least to me).

Anyway, glad to see you around here again!

I think we're due for a *salute*...

I thought I'd be active, but alas, because of recent events, I'm afraid I'm going to have to leave the Barracks for awhile.

It seems I won't have time to B/P at all anymore, or contribute enough to this thread or any of the fine fellows in it. Sorry guys. I'll probably be back, just not anytime soon.

Heck if I know, but I think a couple touch ups would be nice of them, even if it's hardly noticeable, just something to brighten the spirit, instead of making this into a mechanic routine that "days" have their own fixed logo. I don't know if you remember, but there was a time when a special day logo was cherished, a lot.

Interesting, but as someone who hasn't personally seen the previous submission, it just looks like another attempt at submitting, poor, obviously, but not one I can safely whistle malicious.

I wouldn't mind joining here as a Guardsman, I think it'd do me some good since the NGPD got locked. I just need to work on my whistle.

In ancient days, men looked into the stars and saw their heroes in the constellations. In modern times, we do much the same, but our heroes are epic men of flesh and blood.

It seems I won't have time to B/P at all anymore, or contribute enough to this thread or any of the fine fellows in it. Sorry guys. I'll probably be back, just not anytime soon.

Sorry to hear that! Oh well, I hope whatever is going on turns out fine for you, and hope to see you back sometime!

I don't know if you remember, but there was a time when a special day logo was cherished, a lot.

Fair enough. I guess you made your point there. It would be nice to see a little extra effort. They surely have enough artists that know their stuff to do it...

I can add that people vote primarily on file size. I submitted a 18 MB flash one time and got well over a 3.50, but not too much later I submitted a much better quality submission, which was only 11 MB and it passed with a 3.20 even though it was much better.

It is a shame though because if your going to work on something that has that much in it then you'd expect people to watch it first.
