I'm fed up with all the spam that I see all the time here...

There are clubs/crews that started "good" but now it seems to be a real Spamfest :\ This is a warning for all you: If you keep posting stupid images (Totally offtopic) I might delete the images and ban you. The same goes for stupid and short posts...

YOU WERE WARNED...

For the people that wants to start a Club, please take your time to read this before make one:

Use the search box to see if there's not a club like that!

Next follow this rules: (Thanks to Dobio for help me here)

---------------------------------------

1) When making a club, stop and think. "Hmm, does the Newgrounds BBS really need a club like this? And, what are the chances that this club has already been made?"

In other words, NG doesn't need a "Butter Club" and we most likely already have a Final Fantasy Club, so there is basically no need to post any new threads in Clubs and Crews, whatsoever.

2) When posting in a club, ask yourself, "Could I say this on AIM or some other major IM system?" If you are saying, "Hi, how was everyone's day?" and your club is about Megaman, that isn't really pertaining to Megaman, and is basically the reason why these clubs are all 200 + pages. In other words, don't post in your club just for the sake of posting.

3) Don't post just to bump your club, unless you have something actually LEGITIMATE to say. Countless amounts of time we have users saying, "Oh my God guys, I can't believe our club is on the third page, BUMP!" That causes clubs that no one cares about to keep on the front page. If your club does not get posts in it, obviously no one is interested in it. It's simple logic, use it.

4) When you see a new club, that breaks one of the rules, don't post in it saying, "OGM YOU n00b, THERE ALREADY IS A CLUB FOR THIS!!" Simply ignore it, and allow it to sink to the bottom. If the user continues to bump it up, a moderator will deal with it. Posting in the club just keeps the club on the front page, exactly what you are trying to NOT allow happen. By posting in a club that is illegitimate, you are just annoying the moderator, and will most likely end up getting banned for it. If you really have a problem with it, and no one is dealing with it, email a moderator with your complaint. Give it a day or two before sending your email.

5) Flaming a club simply because it is more popular than your own club, is stupid and pointless, and should only be done in a limited amount. If you are posting in a club everyday to call everyone in it derogatory names, then you will be banned. On the contrary, if someone points out something in your club, and you complain about that person posting in your club, and it is an illegitimate complaint, the moderators will just take you less seriously. So don't become the whiney kid in class who bitches about every minor thing.

6) Posting a member list every five posts is pointless and a stupid way to bump up your thread, and should be avoided. Maximum times you are allowed to post a member list is once per page. This prevents spamming up your own thread.

7) Posting for the sake of raising your thread's replies, is against the rules. If you are posting the same thing over and over again, and you are spamming your thread with useless replies and constantly repeating yourself, your club will most likely be locked, or else you will be banned, depending on the severity of the problem.

8) Try to avoid joining every single club you see, just for the sake of putting them all in your signature. Being a devoted member of three or four clubs maximum will cause less quick, one word, unthoughtout replies, and therefore eliminate needless spam in Clubs. Most club owners who are actually serious hate it when someone joins eighty different clubs, because there isn't enough time to post in all of them anyway, so why bother?

9) If you are a club owner, you are not the omni-prescene of the thread, you do not have the final say in anything, the moderators of the BBS do. Some people think that they can have users banned from their thread, simply because they don't like what the user is saying. If you have a complain, contact a moderator, and we will look into it. Once you have emailed or contacted us, leave it at that. Don't create a giant flame war inside your thread, because that will just esclate the problem, especially if you are wrong about the person, which may end up with your thread being locked.

10) Above all else, use common sense when posting in Clubs and Crews. Yes, it is easy to get away with stuff in that section, but you shouldn't use it as a place to spam and raise your post count. This section was created for users to share interests in things that they both enjoy, and talk about them in a BBS setting. If you use your head, chances are you will avoid breaking all the rules set out.

Some very valid points here, good job you and dobio. Just a thought though: Some users do not visit this actual forum. For example, in my links bar I have the ASM, the Gamecube club, and a couple of others. This is the first time I have actually come to the actual forum board in a while. You'd do well to post relevant rules and a warning in the clubs that are breaking them, because there's a chance some members may not see this thread.

Good luck with cleaning up the C+C anyway.

Yeah good rules. I try my best along with a few other users to make sure people know when they make a stupid club or they make a repeat club. Hardly anything annoys me more than when a user does not use the search bar and make a repeat club or they just make a stupid club. Also OLDMEN and GOLDMEN (alt) and j x14 have contributed a lot of spam to this section >:(

It'd be nice if you could get an Admin to pin this above the Rules in this forum (Above the G-bot, below the NG News (only in the Clubs & Crews section)).
Chances of everybody seeing this is slim to none, espescially with all the clubs that get posted in every hour, and the page only being able to hold 30 topics at a time.

Just a thought :D

We've asked this to Wade, but he needs to study carefully these rules and then he might set them up...

it could be usefull if people would actually read the rules. a lot of people, mostly new ones, just post here and have no idea about the existence of the rules.

Well none of the rules he posted forbit that. He said no FLAMING in the new clubs and bumping them with useless spam/flame. He never said anything against helping the clubs out.

These seem to just be the bbs rules, modified slightly to target the C&C.

It's ok, but there's no need to flame them (Even when that user made the 18238th Halo club) So is ok if you are nice and if no one else has given him/her that advice... Because if someone has told him/her : "Hey this topic has been made before here <link> " there's no need to another people posting the same once and again...

Well I detect a major contradiction in the C&C description:

"Want to start a club or crew with people who share a similar interest with you?"

Like WTF? This exact same description has been up ever since C&C began in 2003, and is clearly out of date! If I were a n00b reading that, then my first reaction would be to try and think up a popular club name to start.

Now if the description were changed to "Want to join a club or crew with people who share a similar interest with you?", then way fewer stupid clubs will be made.

Am I right!?

The descriptions for General and WI/HT are also out of whack.

There always seems to be other stuff :( Like the text search. I miss the text search *cries*.

On a more serious note: I don't think the description can make that much of a difference. New members aren't likely to change what they do just because of what they read in a discription. The rules don't seem to be enough to stop spammy clubs, how can a description do it o_0

Well, James said it's not going to come back :)

But you can always use Google instead of it...

That's why I've been lurking to old topics...

As you might know, James is not locking this kind of clubs, he is deleting them...So...the best that the users can make is try to have control on their clubs/crews...

That's why they have to set up some rules when they start a new crew/club...

Hopefully this will help to give the clubs and crews a better image, seeing as it is in no way worse than the general forum, it just hasn't been "modded" as much.

Because the n00bs would rather read a short summary in front of their face, instead of something resembling a legal document.
