Don't you dare give up!!!
I think a lot of your problem is the colours you use. The way I do it is I decide what colour each piece of my art is going to be and colour in everything with a flat colour. I always use my flats as my shadow colour and shadows are dark and don't have much colour in them, so everything is sort of a dark grey version of what I want it to be. Then I decide where my light source will be (in this case top right) and pick a more saturated, brighter colour. I fill in the parts of the shape that would get some light, even if not directly. Then I move on to highlights; the areas totally facing the light.
This is just a simplified version of what I think about when I colour and there are far better artists than I, but I hope this will help a little.

Thanks, that really helps a lot. Colouring is not something I have done a lot and i've never really looked into doing it properly (tutorials ect) So I am going to practice some colouring on some simple pictures to get the hang of it then come back to this.
This will be after I get my sketching done anyway, which i may or may not post here.
Probably will though.
(IMMA POST WHORE)
Starting of a sketch. Might finish this on the computer and give her a body since Everybody~ Needs a body ;D

I find it hard drawing semi realistic stuff
Heres a sketch I did last night on sketchbook pro. I used a reference from Artsy poses which i would recommend for anyone looking for references for their work.
I've never done anything like this before so i found it very hard but it's a start at lest.

This looks pretty impressive if you ask me. Looks solid for someone who hasn't tried something like it. Although the face could use some work. Otherwise, it's very good. Keep it up!

Thanks a lot. It took quite a while to do but the face was very rushed mainly because i get creeped out when things don't have a face :[

Man, I have gotta give sketchbook pro a chance. A lot of people seem to like it.
over all I think that this is pretty good. A real step up. Yeah the face looks off, but as you say, its kind of a first. So excellent start. keep it up

Thanks a lot :D I'd definitely give sketch book pro a go. PM me if you want it for free ;D
I've started college now so now new stuff yet. I'm going to try and update this thread with some art today some time if I can. Or anything interesting I do at college.
:So far all we've done is stuck loads of cut up pictures of the cathedral on to an A3 piece of paper and drawn random parts of it. If anyones interested i could post it I guess..

I like it. Personally I'm to so keep on how bright the sky is compared to the brightest points of the ground. I think if you are going to have a sky that bright you need to brighten bit of the ground. Either that of turn it into a darker color like a red or but it at night and make it purple.

Um...yet another wip. Will I ever finish a picture!?
Not if you keep eating them.
Seriously though, this is very nice. You're making a lot of progress very fast.
