Yes! I like love that music!!! My favourite bans are Slipknot, drowning pool, gotsmack, spineshank, magedeath, etc. I think this is the place for me:)!!

i personally like those bands , except godsmack ( fucking alice in chains ripoff ) but most people here will probably call you a " poser " or " mallcore " and tell you that you need to " go listen to real metal " , etc . since those bands except megadeth are usually considered to be false metal . eh , i'm not really that kind of metalhead .... i like all forms of metal , from black sabbath to cannibal corpse .... as long as i like it i'll listen to it .

So did I, except unlike you, I stayed for the whole show. It ended sometime around 12:11 AM. Alas, it was not as good as I was hoping for it to be. Overall, I'd give it a 5/10. I left the show more exhausted than I've ever been in my whole life, and I'm still extremely tired right now. The first three bands (Beneath the Massacre, Ion Dissonance and As Blood Runs Black) were pretty much shit. The Faceless was actually a bit better than I thought they'd be, but that's not really saying much. Necrophagist was the best (and unfortunately, last) band to perform tonight, and they ended the show with Fermented Offal Discharge, a brilliant song. The second best band that played tonight was Cattle Decapitation. I was pretty disappointed with Decapitated and Cephalic Carnage, though I still enjoy listening to their albums.

Before the show began, I was standing in the front of the line in the humid weather for several hours. I spotted Muhammed (vocalist and guitarist of Necrophagist) wearing sunglasses and smoking a cigarette outside the tour bus. I shook his hand, had a brief conversation, and had him sign my ticket along with my brother's and my friend's. We also had our picture taken with him, but it's on my friend's cell phone, not my camera, so if he sends it to me tomorrow, I'll post it here.

I was standing in the front row and center until Decapitated's set began, because at that point, the moshers went completely out of control. I tried manhandling them aggressively, and that really wore me out after a while. I really tried to enjoy Decapitated while they were on stage, but instead I ended up having to elbow all of the scene kids behind me and shove away those who were next to me. Fucking assholes. After Decapitated played their last song, I left the front and moved all the way to the back behind the balcony, and that's where I saw Necrophagist from.

Anyway, the bands played in this order:

Beneath the Massacre, Ion Dissonance, As Blood Runs Black, The Faceless, Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, Decapitated and Necrophagist.

I took 8 pics in all, one for each band. I'll post them in the morning, because I'm too tired now.

I don't mind the popularity of Power metal as long as it's not as popular as indie music now. If it was that popular, I know I would get sick of hearing about power metal from everyone all the time. Also, power metal isn't so popular around where I live since I've only seen one other power metal fan here.

Response to Metal Hell 2007-07-09 09:55:19

apologies for the double post.

just thought I'd add that I went to see Metallica at Wembley Stadium in London last night, they were amazing.
It's weird, I always forget how good they are live. I saw them at Download 06, they put on a great show there too. Since then, I haven't listened to them, because they were just the foundation of the metal that I listen to now, and I know all their songs so they're just not on my mind when deciding what to listen to.

And then I watched them last night, and they were amazing again. The epitome of Live Metal. They're musical ability might not be out of this world compared to some of the bands I listen to nowadays, but I'll always stand by Metallica, and aspire to get the same quality/clarity of sound for a live gig in a 90,000 seater stadium (which = shit loads of reverb, which killed the shitty support bands, who were all very poorly mixed)

So yeah, the Masters Of Puppets are still pulling my strings :P
