Welcome to the 2008 NG BBS Awards Voting Thread!
In this topic you were asked to nominate your fellow users in 16 thematic categories, and so you did. The people who received the most nominations in each one are hereby presented for you to vote on the one you think is the most deserving of these titles!
I know you're just raring to get to it, but please take a moment to read this thread's rules I've posted below. This topic will be left open for about 2 weeks so there is no rush to get your post in. I've also included some other bits of information that may be of interest to people, regarding these threads.
----Rules----
1) Vote for every category. In the nomination thread I allowed people to leave out nominations because it is understandable if you can't pick a single name out of the thousands of people who come here. But now, there's only five to choose from. If you don't have an opinion, form one by either going through the nominee's post history, or flip some coins. I don't care. Just place a vote for EVERY category or I will delete your votes.
2) No discussion. Just votes. Discuss stuff here.
3) You CAN vote for yourself. Yep. Go for if you want to.
4) Your first post will be your last. I'll be spending an assload of time tallying this crap so I'm not going to acknowledge any "oh no I meant to vote for X instead of Y!" posts. They will be deleted. So think carefully. If you fuck up either live with it or see if you can get a sympathetic mod to delete your vote.
5) This is one thread where you SHOULDN'T read the whole thread before posting. Just to keep the bias down. In the nomination thread there were some obvious bandwagon nominations that filled gaps where people couldn't think of a name. Again, you've only got five to pick from, so try and vote for the one person YOU personally and honestly deserves to win it. So try to avoid looking at all the other votes before you post yours!
----Other Things----
Again, this will be left open until the 30th or so.
There are five people per category, but when counting the nominations sometimes there was a tie for "fifth" such that I'd have 6+ people "deserving" of getting to this stage. I trimmed people off using a random number generator, just so you know. I'll post those who got shafted along with all applicable categories below. Sorry.
In the nomination thread I mentioned that gumOnShoe ran and organized the Mid-Year Awards. That was a filthy lie: it was 36Holla, not that ruffian, gum. Sorry Mr. Holla. I dropped the ball there.
Acknowledgments go out to Timmy and Britkid, who both did a lot of independent tallying of the nominations and allowed me to confirm the accuracy of these nominees.
The Final Results Thread will be posted some time in the new year, probably in the first week, perhaps even on New Year's Day (depends on the ferocity of my hangover). At that point the Discussion Thread will be locked and all drama will be ported over to the Results Thread. I am considering investing some dough and/or effort into procuring some tangible prizes for the winners, so I guess that's something to consider when voting.
If I suspect an account is an alt, or if your account obviously a scarce BBS posting account, I'll probably delete your votes. If I confirm your alt, Banta Claus will deal with it.
