Good Game.
The music was great, but the graphics were too simple and colorful, and the controls were awkward. There should be a way to change the controls around, to the players liking. I didn't get very far in the game, because this made me want to play super metriod really badly.
The game was alright, if you can get used to the controls.
controls are akward
just the fact that you have to press x and z while moving with the wasd controls makes it feel akward to me, maybe have the m key open up the map instead and have the jump button moved to space, and as for the shooting button....i cant really give a good one for that :( maybe left mouse click?
err, if you're moving with WASD, you should be using JKL to attack/jump/change weapon. I'll edit the comments to be a bit more clear on that.
It's a decent start.
This game would massively benefit from a mouse aiming system, rather than a directional based one. Having to run towards the enemy to shoot at an enemy, while nostalgic, is completely illogical and makes combat suffer from lack of decent controls, rather than actual challenge, which is never good in a game.
The graphics and art in general is fairly amateur, but will only get better as you continue to work on it, so don't worry too much about that.
The voice acting is very well done, and is where you get most of your points from me.
Overall the game needs polishing, and the controls desperately need more fine tuning. This does have a lot of potential however, and I think you should continue to run with it.
To be honest, I WAS going to judge this game by its cover simply because the art bothered me, but then I actually played it. And I love it. I didn't actually finish the stage yet, but I can tell the series is going to be great. And what's with everybody's rock-hard erection when it comes to Rina-chan as a voice actor? Seriously, she's in like, everything.

It's an average game, with average game play and below average controls. I found it monotonous and repetitive. I almost quit after I couldn't skip the intro, I wish I had.
