Reviews for "Pestilence Z"

Good :)

its a bit silly, but good fun, maybe a game to play while you just cba with life?
Looking foward to the next in the series :)

has potential but needs a lot of improvement

wel i liked it but if there is going to be a part2 it need a lot! of improvement my bigest complaint is that this game is mutch to repetive for such a long game because basicly its clear the monsters and check every single square for loot over and over again wich gets realy old realy fast and altough the maps change in the way they look the objective is exactly the same kill and loot and the music loop and controles only add to making the game quite slow and feel like a dragg the only 2 things that keep the game interesting is finding better weapons and leveling up now i think the gameplay and storry should be main the reason why you whant to progres further into the game so it needs a lot more variation in that department maby some side quests and misions you can complete? and at least give the option to modify the controle settings and the storryline wel what can i say..... it was vague boring and not verry original maby that migt get interesting at some point in the series? oh wel if you improve on the points i mentiond i think it wil be an awssome game wel thats all i have to say i hope this review was at least a little helpful and constructive i wish you guys good luck with part 2!

It's ok but needs serious work.

The combat animation and general structure is nice. I like the distance idea and the difference between gun and melee combat, as well as the differences between different gun types and attack types. I also really like the exchange equipment for experience system. In the absence of a currency system, that was a really solid idea.

But the interface, oh the interface. It's unbelievably clunky and convoluted. The hotkeys help to mitigate it somewhat, but it still feels uncomfortable mostly because some of it is just unnecessary. There's never going to be a time where I click on an empty or search spot I'm not standing on because I want anything other than to move to it, click on a spot I am standing on because I want to anything other than to search it, or click on a spot with a zombie because I want anything other than to attack it, and these, other than the last one, are doubly true once all the zombies are cleared. If you're worried about the range thing, then just always have the movement and attack ranges always present so it'll always be apparent. This would streamline it much better. This is less of a problem in combat.

Still, even if you want to keep the menu system overall, I see no reason why I need to click a cancel marker when I don't want to actually do a command. Again, I would never click to cancel the command I put in unless I wanted to do a different one. Since clicking the end turn button cancels whatever command I have put in automatically, I don't see why all of them can't do it.

The combat is nice in thought, but unbalanced. Since headshots at any range with any weapon are an instant kill with the exception of one zombie, there's no reason to not always go for headshots at all times. The few times where it doesn't work are mitigated by the fights I just blow through in an instant. Having headshots only be instant kill at melee range and critical hits with gun relative to the power of that weapon would be better. My weapon of choice later into the game was a weak airsoft rifle because of its high accuracy.

Most other things are nitpicking. With all the animation you put into the combat, it seems a bit sloppy that the character just slides along the ground when moving on the map. It's strange that random spots on the ground can sometimes be searched, but perfectly reasonable things like medicine cabinets can't be. It's annoying that all zombies cause poison, but made more reasonable by how ineffectual it is and that it's cured the moment battle is over. The zombies walking through walls is a little crap, not because they can, but because you can't shoot them while they're in the walls. It basically wastes a turn. You also should at least put a warning in the game about the save problem. Not everyone is going to read your comment block before starting or closing the game, and that's not unreasonable. It's a key game feature. You should have made sure it worked properly before uploading.

It's ok, but it needs a lot of ironing to get rid of all the flaws.

People need to read.

Well I've seen a LOT of negative reviews, and it saddens me that people can't read the text under the game. Zombies should, however, leave a hole after they tear through a wall, and have walls even they can't go through (tunnel). I'll give it an 8, because it's amazing, but there's much room for improvement. I enjoyed the secret rooms.

Boring.

No animations, horrible story and bad combat. this game fails all ways in my book.
