Snailiad is an 8-bit-inspired game, which uses the NES palette most of the time, and uses NES music I wrote using Famitracker. I hope you enjoy it! :-) There's some references to eight-bit classics that helped inspire Snailiad, and you might also find a cameo or two from RPG Shooter: Starwish, if you play long enough.

Big thanks to:

xdanond, for drawing some stuff!
newstarshipsmell, for lots of testing!
jsr, for Famitracker!

Starting with Flash Player 10.3, Flash save data gets DELETED if you clear cookies or browser history. If you're having trouble with saves, this list might help:
1. Don't clear your cookies or history
2. Make sure the Flash Storage Settings say "Unlimited"
3. Make sure "private browsing" is OFF
4. Make sure "clear browser history on exit" is OFF
5. Make sure "block sites from setting any data" is OFF (for Chrome users)
6. Don't run a program that deletes stuff, like CCleaner or Better Privacy

Once you defeat the final boss, you unlock the "radar"! The radar tells you how many items are left in the current area.

There's a hidden mode in Snailiad! Once you've unlocked it, it will be one of the choices in "NEW GAME", below EASY and NORMAL.

If you set your browser zoom below 100%, the bottom and right sides of the game will get cut off. Please make sure your zoom is at least 100%!

Awesome experiece

Phew, after finally beating everything this game has to offer (only thing left is 1% of the map which I have no idea where it is), I can say that this game took around 3 hours from me life that I don't want back! this says a lot.

Good job and keep making more games like this :)

Not a bad game!

This game is really good! it can be glitchy at times especially when you get the boomerang. But the abilities and what not are pretty good, it makes it to where you can do a lot of stuff I am not sure you intended. Like going to the top and avoiding a lot of enemies, but to do that sometimes is hard. Good game, very addictive. I can not really complain much. Happy Gaming!

While playing it..

I forgot i was on newgrounds playing a flash game lol !
It just has that something which makes ppl crazy and addicted, like zelda or sonic..
It is great!!
And btw is this inspired by an original game of nes (i think) cause i remember playing a game with a snail in my childhood but cant recall anything else..

It's actually inspired by a bunch of NES games! I'm not sure I remember one with a snail, though.

Albeit the snails were a pretty fucking lame. The only problem I had with the game was due to sprites, or to be specific, to figure out where the edge of the snail was, which made precise jumping almost impossible. It would have been cool with wall jumping Megaman style as well, but that's just wishful thinking I guess.
