Mortasheen

This short, pointless cartoon is my first flash project using characters from my "Mortasheen" world, a realm of grotesque creatures I illustrate and develop for fun. It was originally intended for various game projects, but I never learned how to make my own. You can follow a link at the end to see all of its current monsters; over 320 I've drawn in pencil over the past few years. I'm sure you have noticed by now that drawing monsters is practically all I ever do, and nearly all of my Flash work is just another vehicle for that. I've been doing it since I was a toddler. I probably come up with a dozen creatures a day, and just wish I had the energy to draw them all.

I know this is just some dumb cartoon gags and not much of a plot or ending, but I had to make SOMETHING involving these guys. I also know the tiny eyeball guy bears striking similarity to a character from Gegege no Kitarou (one of the only anime series I respect) which I suppose is about 50% homage and 50% the simple fact that there's no easier way to draw a tiny eyeball guy.

If anybody likes this, I implore you to comment on my other Flash submissions as well. A few of them went largely unnoticed compared to some of my other submissions, and that includes a few I put my greatest time and effort into.

If you DIDN'T like this...you should check out my other stuff anyway, because it varies wildly in tone, pacing and genre. It's still all just a bunch of damn monsters, but some of it is funny, some of it is creepy, some of it I kinda hate myself, and some of it I'm genuinely proud of.

It's nice looking back at this now that Mortasheen's been funded on kickstarter. It came so far.

After spending the last three days looking at all of our monsters (because who needs a life, amirite?), it's super cool to see these guys in action.

Wow...Just wow

You've turned horribly ugly monsters into sweet adorable loving characters. You sir deserve an award.

I can relate

Ever since being so young I've been inspired by the Resident Evil franchise. What it has become today is rather distasteful but I remember way back to about sixth grade with my little project of horrible skill. Pathetic drawings with horrible writing skill. Went something like some creature in a lab, yada yada, finds way in random house's attic, yada yada. Eventually changing and evolving into what I have today and am still working on. I'm currently eighteen and can relate to this.

Wonderful

By Christ you're a good Artist.
