I've only played the first Rollercoaster Tycoon. It's an amazingly fun game, but I can't bring myself to try its sequels. It looks like 2 and 3 put too much emphasis on graphics and not enough on the gameplay that made the original so much fun.
I have to be honest, RCT2 was everything like RCT1, but with a scenario editor, new rides, and better designed coasters. Not to mention the Six Flags parks that were added along with it. But as it goes for gameplay, RCT2 has the upper hand again; you can actually BUILD structures (I mean put one object on top of the other), or raise an item while holding the SHIFT button. There's a whole lot more stuff I'd like to say, but I've probably made my point.
RCT3 though, was not what I really expected. I never really liked it; I haven't adapted from the 2D goodness that was once RCT, and the loading time is GODDAMN long, even for a basic computer of this time period. Though you can "ride the rides", it's just not the same as watching your own miniature park, in 2D....
