Tweekit?! I like it! It sounds very whimsical!

This is just a general message to anyone shaky about ROM's, Emulators, or copyrighted information ...

Thanks for clearing that up. I'm very leery when it comes to copyrights since I hold a few myself and have to be aware of them on a constant basis with my freelance work.

... thanks to DocMonster for all that he's contributed to the thread, you've been incredible helpful man.

No problem and thanks for the props. I'm glad I could be of help. It helps a great deal that you made this a free and open club.

In a week or two I'll be premiering my new series "8-Bit Childhood." Be sure to check it when it's out.

Excellent! Drop us a link when it's done!

Thanks again, Tweekit!

Those are some excellent sprites! Did you recolor Storm Eagle?

SHWEET! Now, we all have our ways of customizing sprites. How do you go about recoloring them - like what programs do you use and so on?

Response to Sprite Club 2003-07-24 17:28:27

Believe it or not, I used Paint to color my PBX sprites. Yep. And to recolor more complicated things, like Storm Eagle, I use Fireworks MX.

And this is my PBX techno remix dance! :P

WOW! I've never used Paint myself, but almost every post I read on the BBS says how hard it is to use and how much it sucks. That's cool that you made it work for you because PBX looks slick! You might be able to help out TOPBRICK because he's just starting with sprites and has Paint as well. I couldn't offer any advice since I'm not familiar with the program. He was posting here regularly, but then he kindda disappeared.

I also checked out your sprite toons on NG and I have to say that I thought MegaMan Vs. Bass was pretty funny! The sprites were pretty well animated also.

Sure, whenever he's on I'll give him some tips...

Man, I really hate to say it, but that Flash was kinda rushed. But, my next flash I hope will blow minds away; it will be totally sprites, and it will be voice-featured! It'll take some time, though.

Tweekit, the creator of this club, has created an open door policy for any fans of sprites to join. Welcome aboard, we're glad to have ya!

If you ever need voices, just let me know. I wouldn't mind supplying some for you.

Here is another sprite flash I finished a while back. Everything everything was ripped by me using the shot factory in the Neo Geo emulator WinKawaks.

http://jredzen.homestead.com/files/Bogard.html

I didn't submit this in Newgrounds as it may very well be blammed. Its about 2 megs, but that is due to the number of sprite frames in this. The total frame count is over 1000!

A few of us have been looking, but keep coming up empty handed. The best suggestion has been to try and rip them from an emulator. That's out of my area of experience. Someone else here may be able to tell you how.

can i join?

Of course! Welcome to the club! Tweekit is the big bossman of this club.

how do you increase frames per second?

Click on the 12fps that should be the default when you open up a new Flash file. A dialogue box will open where you can change the physical dimensions of the project, the background color and the fps. I usually use 24fps - the speed of film.

When you publish your toon, publish it as an animated .GIF. Now, make sure you don't have any movie clips (MC) in your Flash because they won't animate.

Hope this has helped clear things up!

That was pretty neat! Unfortunately, I agree with you on what its fate might be on NG. What frame rate did you use because it ran a little slowly.

You just need to read what I wrote a little more carefully.

Click on the 12fps that should be the default when you open up a new Flash file. That means that when you open a new Flash file you should click (double click) on the "12fps" you'll find underneath the timeline. It will show "12fps" because that is Flash's default frame rate.

A dialogue box will open where you can change the physical dimensions of the project, the background color and the fps. That means a dialogue box will open AFTER you double click on the "12fps". In that dialogue box (Movie Properties) you will be able to change the movie's properties.

I hope this cleared it up for you.

Well I tried to max the frame rate as high as possible but thats as fast as I can make it. My guess is that its just too many frames of animation.
