Dragon Ball Vs One Piece

Which do you think is better, Dragon Ball or One Piece,

DRAGON BALL:

-Pretty Cool Story (Overall, it's pretty simple)
-Awesome Art And Humor (Do I Really Need To Say More)
-Just The Whole Fatherly Manga Thing (It Being Older And Basically Paving The Way For So Many Other Manga, There Would Most Definitely Be No One Piece,Naruto,Or Bleach If Dragon Ball Was Never Invented)

ONE PIECE:

-Awesome Story (Definitely More Thought Out Than Dragon Ball)
-Incredible Art And Humor (The Art Is Awesome And So Is The Humor, But Dragon Ball Gets Less Humorous Later On)
-It's younger and incomplete, so the jury is still out on it, but i'd say it's way too long, but still good nonetheless...

The story of One Peice is poorly paced, and the humor is ok for kids.
Also I will not respect it. It's success did open the doors for more anime, more bad anime.
It gave the idea that people liked over-powered, long, annoying shit anime. (Which some idiots did) Don't even get me started on Naruto or others of it's kind.

I like both of those series, but One Piece has so much more character than DBZ will ever have, and emotion. Each character has a history of their own to back up their personality, and it's not just the crew, it's everybody they meet. Every foe they meet is more than just a foe, it's just, well I don't know how to explain the formula that makes the series as great as it is, maybe because the main characters always have much more to lose? Because they don't just revive if they die? Because they don't get so crazy-strong they start being able to blow up planets? There are no perfect characters in One Piece, especially not the main characters. It's through co-operation and an undefeatable will that they keep beating the odds. They have the world government against them, all kinds of crazy enemies, personal problems, and they just keep going! Might also be the fact that they are pirates, or that so much of the story takes place on the sea. I love the sea. :)

Both of them I don't like for different reasons.

Dragon ball I hated because it took over toonami at one point and I couldn't watch my favorites shows because they were playing that Dragonball shit.

One piece sorry but 4kids ruined it for me big time. While I am sure one piece is most likely a decent anime first impressions are everything and my first impression of the show has been ruined.

-Super Long Power-Ups that sound like extreme constipation
-Super Long Stare Downs that go nowhere
-Super Cheesy Trash Talk
-And Fight Scenes that are way too long and protracted

and also there's the country difference issue, your not Japanese, well at least i don't think you are so you're used to db, then dbz

like i said before, I mean the manga and the db manga is from emperor pilaf to kid buu, it's just the anime that splits it into db and dbz, although the english manga was made into db and dbz to avoid confusion...

Well its actually pretty good, I mean, it just seems silly to judge an anime by what 4kids edits out.

At the time I knew there were edits to the anime we got since I watched other original animes subbed. however at the time there weren't sites where you could watch anime real easy like it is now, so knowing that something was wrong, plus the fact that 4kids did it Just made me give up on it.

It would be like if I judged Tenchi Muyo from a drawing my little cousin did in art class.
