Did you read the rules? They pretty clearly state that you can't. I had an idea about cutting into one too, but I understand why It isn't allowed.

Here's a scan of my template, it got a bit foldy in the corners, but it still works.

Now if anyone wants one they can print it out and have one of their own :)

ThrashFlash, I have a feeling it's going to be one those who just wanted to do something cool and different that win. Your Kirby box is a great idea, and there are some entries that are really out there.

Winning or losing aside, I'm digging a lot of the designs. A project like this really brings out the creative spirit.

Well, the idea is very original (atleast in this contest) ,it's nicely excecuted, and the drawing is great.
I don't know why you did a 'darker' version, since in the 1st one, you can notice the hair 'effects' a little better.
If you're having problems 'building' it, then... maybe start doing it with paper only?, ... or if pasting is a little difficult, you can "cheat" using masking tape in the in-parts...
