Made a second one without the cardboard backing. WAAAAAAyyyyy easier to put together. And I think it looks better. A bit more fragile, but why does that matter.

Salutations,

Here's my entry. I took a different approach by using two sides as the front, as opposed to just one side. It gave me more room to work with and makes the box itself seem a little bigger. Instead of doing it in photoshop and printing it out, I printed out the template, traced it onto 110 lb cardstock, and drew the images on. They're filled in with sharpie, art pens and silver gel pens for highlights and details.

This contest has been some of the most fun I've had in a long while :-)

Best wishes always,

Jay

Here's the entire box unfolded (and with the Newgrounds logo added).

Many thanks to ReNaeNae for a really fun project. It's like a Dunny, only anyone can do it :-)

Hehm, that's right, the first one i submitted was also made that way, printed in 'texturized' paper, and it's still resistant.

Oh well, here's my 2nd 'thingy', a 12-eyed viscosity with colorful organs.
i HAD to use cardboard here because it was painted with acrylics (then finished with markers).
Hurm... Enjoy the picture?

ButzboPrud, it's one of the few entries that looks at you more than you look at it :-)

The size itself actually poses a bit of a challenge. Being able to do the project on Bristol or a thin illustration board would have been ideal (especially for acrylic). Might be easier to blow up the template in photoshop and print on separate pages, or just to go to a copy shop and enlarge the template onto 11x17 paper then transfer to Bristol or board.

Good entry :-)

That's pretty good, but did you draw the tankman yourself?
You're supposed to use your own artwork.
If you DID make that good of a representation of Tankman, then good job - i like it.

COutting all the cardboard and placing it all together was a real pain in the ass. Seriously, I have no idea how you made yours so neat.

I just used regular paper, no cardboard.
It worked just fine for me, you have to be a bit more carefull about not creasing it though.

Tried doing a digital one....
After looking at it for a while I realized it may also have some similarities with the one captain-Ben did.

I thought to myself, i could just stand here and watch what people submit... or i could do somthing myself. After that i decided to go have somthing to eat.

anwho when i got back i decided that i wouldnt be in it to win it, i just wanna do somthing cool. So i give you The kirby cube. I think that its quite neat, also theres a reason i picked a round character for a square box, and that reason is just because i wanted to try somthing different, whats more different then somthing thats ment to be a perfect sphere in form of a requtangular prism.

Anywho this was a crapload of fun to make and i hope to participate in other future contests

I admit they are allot alike, but I don't think it's fair saying that they're exactly the same :P...
