Reviews for ""Strange Fruit""

I dont see the big deal.

This flash has been givin alot of praise for a "half ass" flash. Anyone can slap some charcoal drawings up and zoom in on them. Music wasn't original. Personally I did not like this presentation. It had a tone that"African Americans" are still being mistreated and getting the short end of the stick. Hate to tell you but, they have a hell of alot more to use in court, college, and job wise. Me being indian I dont get anything unless I live on a reservation that the white man made for us when they took over our land.

All the kids on Newgrounds gave this a 10 as if it was the "Best" thing they have seen in there 13 year old life.

I get the meaning, but the flash was not well done. learn how to brighten your pictures instead on inconviencing the audience.

J-qb responds:

The pictures where very well visible on both computers I tested it on (one laptop, one old pc). I'm sorry if they weren't bright enough for your flavour.
I agree with you in that it isn't a amazing movie animation-wise.
As for the certain group issue: Hearing the song inspired me to make this movie, the song is about african americans. I didn't feel this issue only matters to african americans, esp. since this issues this song is dealing with are a bit outdated. That is why I explicitly mentioned that it is not about a certain group of poeple. it is just as much about you.

good song, awful flash

this flash was just bad. firstly, the captions just totally inhibited any sort of mood to really be formed in the flash, and also the imagery wasn't really that good at all. the song was good, but this flash just doesn't cut it at all.

I was not moved.

Racism is an age old thing, we all know this. But for it to be justified for only one 'group' of people, is rather racist itself. It bothers me as to why a black person can say whatever they want about anyone else, especially whites, but feel offended when someone else makes a comment about their own race. African americans demanded freedom and respect long ago, but to expect such things when they so bluntly make others look like fulled fledged racists all the time no matter what they do, is doing nothing more than taking others freedom of free speech and opinion away. I am not a racist, I do live in the south, and I am from a community where African americans are all around. I have many friends of that race, and we hold no grude to one another. So please, do not view my points of opinion as racist. I am just stating the obvious. Though this was an event in history, and though I am sorry that such a thing happened, the blacks were not the only race that has ever been enslaved. The message of the flash was wonderful, but still, I do not feel guilt from something that is not my fault.

P.S. My family came to American in the late 1900's. So logically, I am free from any blame, and yet, I am thrown racists comments all the time for 'keeping the black man down'. Supposedly, I am immune to racism no matter what anyone says to me because, according to American life, it is politically correct to hate the white man. Peace.

J-qb responds:

I explicitely stated that it was not about any specific group of poeple.... I'm sorry that wasn't clear to you.

Not good

Two stars is being nice since I gave the flash a zero. It was a long load for a bunch of nothing. It's just a bunch of zooming in on black drawings and the slowest song I ever heard.
