Reviews for ""Strange Fruit""

Very potent imagery.

Your illustrations and the subtle movements of the camera are very evocative. I only wish the song would've been a bit easier to listen to. I know it's about a terrible subject, but I found the tune especially jarring; it took away from the overall production for me, if that makes any sense. A somber reading of the poem would have been worlds better for me.

Other than that, capital job all around.

I knew what I was getting onto myself when I chose for this version of the song. Thanks for the 9 nonetheless!

Good :D

I loved it. It was moving and solemn. The only bit is.. the woman's voice is bad at some bits. But that's out of your control so sorry.

Animition fitted perfectly with the poem and song

It's drawn real nice and the images fit with the words of the poem. It's also a very meaningfull movie I think. Nicely done!

very american, very true

A guy who called himself 'MAD DOG' (no joke) says that the south still has the back door for blacks and front door for whites.

Not sure if that's true, but I'm pretty sure that's relevant.

I only gave you a nine due to an overall lack of color. It works well for the concept, but leaves something to be desired software wise. Nothing cheer is needed, only something that could make it stand out more as a picture (more tree blossom scenes for example.)

anyway, if you are dedicating this to FUTURE victims of racism, I have a request for you...

Understand that the very likely next target of prejudice are thouse who are considered autistic, and that a strange fruit of our own grows off the branches of bigots.

Please give a nod to the Neurodiversity movement. Thank you.

Awesome!

The animation itself is very beautiful and fits with the song perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was the song itself actually. I don't know if it's my mood or what, but I just wasn't all that into the song. However, it's an amazing flash and definitely unique for this site.

J-qb responds:

Thanks! The song is a matter of taste, and like more of Simone's work it isn't really easy on the ears.
