Reviews for ""Strange Fruit""

Brilliant!

There is not so much animation but idea is grate and music is so sad - i like it!
Well done! ^_^

J-qb responds:

Thanks, not a lot of animation indeed, but I think that might be the main reason I got it finished.

Somber...

Befitting the original poem as well, Nina's lyrical rendition. When, I did see "Strange Fruit" I was thinking immediately when I read it before in an English class during high school. To say it was moving was an understatement.

I think that the dark shades and small animation reflects the stillness of death accurately. So, I think that was a good artistic choice.

J-qb responds:

thank you

wow, good. NOT typical of newgrounds

Not typical at all. The topic is obviously quite emotional and morbid. Very good. The singing isn't my exact taste but I still greatly enjoyed it.

Also, adjusting the monitor adds a... strange/different feel to this flash. As if adjusting your monitor is actually adjusting your mind to think deeply. It adds a personal touch definitely.

J-qb responds:

well, that's the first positive comment on the screen adjustment thingie :)
Thanks

a fine piece of work

Nice choice of music, graphics, transitions. I would have staggered the lyrics, as I found myself often reading ahead of the song. I didn't adjust my monitor, I feel that's your job :)

A fine and bold piece of work. Glad to see it on the front page.

J-qb responds:

I could have changed the lyrics (when and how they appear that is), but I wanted people to focus on the picture instead of the text. Besides that, most illustrations actually only show one of the two lines.
Someone mentioned the thing about the monitor adjustment before. It is all due to the fact that I use a laptop, and it makes a huge difference how much your screen is tilted (open/closed lid) I didn't want you to change your setting or anything, Guess I wasn't clear on that.
Thanks for the input!

very moving

im glad people are expressing such powerful forms against things like racism with flash, this was very well done, and im also glad it wasnt too corny or whatever like a lot of these things are, it was discrete and allowed the viewer to think more.
