Reviews for "Gekisen card game"

Quite good but...

The idea of this game is excellent, but it could have executed better. Game is quite similar to some trading card games like Yu-gi-oh. Too bad that the game has some major flaws which reduce its overall rating. Let's see...

Basic idea is to combine right cards with correct timing. Unfortunately card selection is WAY too huge, making chances of drawing tha cards you need slim to none. That's not good, especially when most of the card are just better versions of the some card. ( Gain 1 health, 2 healths, 3 healths etc.) Because of this the game is based more on luck than strategy. It's especially frustrating when you draw weak healing cards like "cold sake" while opponent draws powerful damage cards like "critical hit".

Also, some of the cards are way too powerful. For example, if opponent regenerates 2 HP every turn it's nearly impossible to win. The only way to counter regeneration is "vorpal blade" and with 110 cards in deck it is NOT likely to get one when you need it. Same goes for bleeding. 1 HP each turn doesn't sound much, but when it lasts for 40 turns with no cure you simply bleed to death.

It IS still possible to pull off some great card combos. For example when opponent uses poison you counter with "Inexperience" and "Dishonorable blow". Or when you have lots of hazumi you can use "Defencive stance" to get your hazumi in defence and then use "versatility" to switch your offence and defence so that it will not revert.

The game has some bugs that should be fixed.

1. If opponent plays "Strategy" or "Tactics" he will not discard. Instead, you don't get new card when your next turn starts.

2. Tackle has no effect. Opponent get his defence score back before you have a chance to attack him.

3. If you have 5 or less cards in your hand and press empty cards slot you will just skip your turn.

Other negative things:

1. Training is meaningless

2. Bonuses from tournament are for one-time use.

3. If you lose a trial you immediately lose a belt rank.

4. Because opponent has 5 HP more at each rank of belt trial it's almost impossible to win at highest ranks. I had gray belt at best.

5. It seems like opponent cheats. No matter what player does opponent has counter.

Game would improve if bugs were fixed and some useless cards were removed. Or you could build your own deck. It would also make game more balanced by limiting the number of powerful cards.

Good Game, A Few Bugs

A nice game, with a good variety of cards, although there are a few bugs.
The Poison and Curse counters don't go down when stunned, and you don't suffer Bleeding when stunned.
If the computer plays the Discard 1 or 2 Unwanted Card, you don't get to draw on that turn.
If the computer plays Dual Wield, it gets to play 3 cards instead of 2.
If you win a new belt, and then play Training and win, your belt color improves, but if you lose in that Training, your belt color worsens.
The Tackle card is USELESS, because the attack card you play doesn't deal damage until AFTER their Armor (Defense) returns to normal.
If the Fumble card is played when no damage has been dealt and no offense modifiers in play, it does 3 damage.
There are also a few misspellings that could be fixed, but aren't major.

The game is impossable!

Ive played like 20 times and lost them all. Also when u get that 6th card (card) you don't get to have a 6th card ? :(

Great premise, but flawed play.

I liked this game. I was playing for hours even with the flawed systems and interface. The layout it great, the cards are nice. I enjoyed the power-up system involved and the strategies that could be presented in a match. That said, here are the problems as I see them:

• No discard option. I often ended up with cards that I just used up to no effect because I had no use for them. There were also cards I was trying to avoid using, and ended up using one card out of six over and over again hoping for a discard. I doubt anybody wants to reset thier offense/defense when they have a 10 point lead over the opposition. I didn't want to use up all of my Hazumi points on a cure that I didn't need, after I racked up 84 of them just trying to see how big of a hit I could land.
• Not enough attack draws. There were matches in which I could not defeat my opponent because I could not hurt them. They were regenerating two health each turn, and I could do no damage at all, in any manner. I think the same can be said for the Hazumi cards also. Sometimes I'll end up in a increase/decrease match with my opponent without having an option to do damage or not.
• When the opponent discards, or uses a double attack card, it does not refresh your hand. It's also troublesome to know when you can go again, or if the computer is still choosing, because the cards they use in this process do not get removed from thier hand immediately.
• I found myself never using the poison cards. It seemed every opportunity I tried them out, the computer used the card that turns it into bleeding damage on me. For all the times I ended up bleeding, I could hardly ever find a cure. For every "poison to bleed" card I saved, I never got hit with poison.
• The one-turn effects are virtually pointless to use. They always work against the player also. Timers cycle after a card has played, before the effect. If I reduce the opposition's defense to 0 from 6, it doesn't last long enough for me to attack on my next turn. This makes the card dependent on the double attack one.
• When the other player uses the "see opponent's hand" on you, you can see thier cards. Just a wierd thing to do.
• When using multiple cards, it's slow to react. I'm not sure when I can use the next card or not. A text message notifying you when it's your turn would be helpful here.
• Spelling errors, simple ones. Strenght, Taclke, Typhon (Typhoon); another minor error that could improve.

craaappp

I wanted to add a higher score man.. i played this game for a day. but when i get to silver belt by having in hand only 2 cards was sheer luck. Love the game but the random crappy cards are killing it. from silver i descented to brown and then blue again. I mean at least I should be able to keep my +5 life points in each round! good and hard game but very strickt. it even detects that I refresh my browser and drops me a belt! I cant even steal some joy out of this game!
I aslo see that you didnt reply to any of the reviews here. thats not good imo
