you know you don't have to ask... I don't make these to get credit for doing so, I make this to get this forum cleaner of n00b threads badly answered.

AS: The mouse wheel

the new Object; instead of new Object(); is intended to keep people from just copy-pasting the code.

Heh. Well, you'd probably code it in a completely different way, so feel free to comment/post your own code: AS: Starfield

a good one to have would be a shooting tutorial. mouse and keyboard. plus, either a link to ng's 1 or a AS: 1 for the fps tut.

meh, I don't know... there are so many animated shooter tutorials

But most of them are simply for n00bs to copy and paste into games.

What about AS: PROJECT : WHATEVER
Like...

AS: PROJECT: Shooter

whereby you tell them what threads to go and read (ie: AttachMovie, loops etc...)

and then you basically make a little game or whatever out of it

Basically like your fireworks thing

Just a suggestion

It's not a bad idea, although the AS: list is getting large.
Comments on this idea, please: I've pulled out all the current 'specific project' section from the 'general code' list, and put them in their own section.

That last post (the current list) was 686 chars short of the post limit, so unless I remove the credits to the authors, I'm going to have to start thinking about splitting the list into two posts, which is a bit of a pain.

Eventually, it might even be worth creating a new thread for the Specific AS/AS Projects, but I think we'd need a more complete collection first.

Comment?

yeah, I think we'll eventually have to split the AS Main thread into several thread, and have the main to link to these threads, and the threads will link to main, and to all related threads...

like:

AS: Effects
AS: Movement with AS
AS: API Complete

and so on

Response to As: Main 2005-07-25 09:02:45

See, at first we were at regular programming , we just answered questions
After that, Otacon's links and tutorials came, and we became procedural
Following that, your AS: Main came along, allowing us to be modular and link to threads effectively

I say we go OOP now, we task it, instead of basic movement and such, we do sub categories in main and have

AS: How to create an RPG?
AS: How to create a platformet?
AS: How to create a space shooter?
AS: How to create a scrolling engine?

and many others each linking to the needed AS: threads...I don't mind chipping in and being in charge of one or two of these threads... but I doubt we should allow just anyone to make them... we also could use something motivating for people to create AS: threads... like a contest or something :P that's my speciality so we'll see

This tutorial is pretty basic but a lot of newbs ask how to do it.

You haven't even explained how it works, you're supposed to //comment it.

Response to As: Main 2005-07-25 12:33:42

this (Drag&Dropp) has already been made once and overruled since it's really just a simple command

startDrag() and stopDrag() , it's realyl easier to explain it then to link it each time

Response to As: Main 2005-07-25 12:40:24

meh, just because something isn't in AS: Main doesn't mean you can't link to it :P

Once the subdir system kicks in (if so) the tutorial will be useful.

no, it's a new concept, read my post a few places up, right after denvish's list.

its just a simple registration form, so you can register a user in flash in a mysql database, there arnt a lot of features but ya..

I think you still need to redo it, talk about other methods of dragging, mouse events and more... but it's your call really.

Well, maybe it's not a good idea to go too far with trigonometry...But yeah, goin' into mouse events, methods, and techniques would be nice.

Trig with dragging and dropping?
Why would you need trig in a draggin and dropping section???
