It's not really a surprise that there's a second fire emblem character. I just think most people didn't expect it to be Ike. In Melee Roy was the most recent lead character in the series and I believe Ike was the same when Brawl came out. Going on that trend most everyone thought they'd replace Ike with one of the Lords from awakening. It's surprising that they decided to stick with Ike over Chrom or Lucina, at least in my opinion.

Also on an unrelated note, if you liked fire emblems of the past then you should definitely give awakening at try. It's pretty damn good.

Ike looks fucking badass, hopefully he will play as good as he looks.

I think it would have been nice if they picked a Fire Emblem character that had a weapon other than a sword like an axe or spear for variety.

While I don't for one second think that they are legit, because these leaks never are, it would be awesome to have at least 50 character slots available. That would mean enough space for all previous characters to return, as well as another 4 or 5 new faces.

As it is there are still a number of old characters I fully expect to see announced, though like many of you Ike was not on that list.

Either way I am more excited now- I finally bought a Wii U today in anticipation of Mario Kart 8 (and the offer of a free game download- that was too good to miss out on).

to be honest I really didn't want either of these characters. I always thought Mii's would be too gimicky and I'm pretty sure palutena never does anything other than letting pit fly. I will admit that they handled the mii characters in an interesting way that I can see myself enjoying, but palutena just does nothing for me.

Watching the Smash tournament right now. I don't know anything about competitive play, but everyone seems really hyped up. Seems like the perfect place to reveal one final character. Meta Knight would make sense for such a hardcore crowd.

Not really, just some nice fights. The devs are having a round table in half an hour or so, and Reggie gave the impression that there would be some new info.

The invitational was spectacular! Gonzalo really deserved to win against Hungrybox's in my eyes. Hungrybox seemed WAAAAYYY too arrogant and sure of himself.

Nonetheless, it was a great tourney, and now nothing will stop me from getting both games.

Two hours well spent.

I'm actually okay with this, though the video doesn't make his moveset seem all that interesting.

Also Game and Watch is featured in the video, but isn't in the character list on the website. Does this mean he's being dropped as a character and will be an item instead? That doesn't make me very happy.
