This was a pretty awesome year for Newgrounds, hardly "slow" to me! I've gone through plenty of major life changes like graduating college, moving to a whole new part of the country/continent with a whole different climate and culture and starting grad school, yet newgrounds kept right up with me.
Introducing new icons and profile picture standards, tons of new games with medals and a lot of awesome stuff in the store! I love how there's kind of a rolling stock of things to buy. It's not just stickers and 3 shirts and when you do buy something you almost expect it to be limited run and now you have a piece of NG history on your mantle (unless the wife makes you relegate it to your computer desk because the mantle is for things like pictures of the nephews, our wedding or "real" artwork)
I wish that the Boston meetup had been a little better organized last time around or that I had time to attend the NYC meetup in 2010 while I was still in the Northeast. Attending Beerfest and the Montreal Meetup was a high point in my year. The first time I went to a NG meetup was in 2004 in Vancouver with some random users who happened to live there. Then I went to Montreal in 2008 and it was kickass. Everyone treated me nicely and I made some real friends. I only hope that there is a Miami, Orlando or Tampa, FL meetup I can attend in the future!
Lots of things have changed in the community as well. We have a new gaming platform to learn and people are really catching on to it. We have made a few changes to how the forums are moderated and I think everyone is able to have more fun.
2011 I would love to see some cool events like a "game jam" where people literally meet face-to-face for a weekend and produce games side-by-side. Tom once mentioned he wanted the NG office to be a place for local Flash gurus to get together and hash out projects or be able to go to each other's houses and do the same. If we had a "home brew" project thing where you could meet up with local programmers/artists/musicians and work together in person, that would produce some awesome content! No timezones to worry about, no missed Emails or ignored IMs.
