My goal will have to be making 2011 the year of the 3D animators come out of hiding and show that we be as active as flash animators!

...i just need to make animations myself lol
happy new year everyone!

Eh, I dragged more than carried the NG anthology. Hopefully its been passed on to a capable duo and we'll see more from it.

My resolution as far as flash it to make it a viable multiplayer platform. When google wave failed I was stuck with server code that I was using for testing. That code has evolved into a capable server that replaces what Google Wave was.

If all goes according to plan I'll have my first multiplayer game out sometime in January/February. And after that I'd like to look into opening it up. But, memory (RAM) isn't cheap on the hosting end. If anyone likes the idea of turned based flash games being opened up to a brand new multiplayer community and you are interested in making it a success. Feel free to contact me after the first proof of concept either works or tanks.

Also, now that I've done some more custom GUI work I should be able to update the music player one last time. Probably after the multi player game is released.

If I had one wish for what this community could accomplish, it would be that some of the people who have adopted AS3 would be willing to make components and share them. Simple things like scrollbars, listings, and things like that are lacking. And almost every game needs one. The resources available scattered over the net aren't very compatible.

NG's 2010 rocked! The same can't really be said for the year outside of NG but that doesn't matter. Happy new year everyone!

Not to mention Bryce Milburn's NG Photobook and Nathan's documentary are both slated for release in 2011! And maybe BattleBlock Theater?

Battleblock theater is coming out on PSN and XBLA at the same time, riiiiiiiiiiight?

Can't believe it's 2011 already. I also can't believe the progress that Newgrounds has made since I first started coming to the site in 2001. I'm looking forward to the new year, even if I don't have as much time to participate as I once did.

Encourage musicians and animators to work together. Music is an integral part to animation and its more than difficult to sift through the audio portal to find exactly what you want.

I think some event kinda like Game Jam or Power of 3 with Flash Movies because i feel the people who work on flash movies really only work with other animators and not other parts of the community.

This was a pretty awesome year for Newgrounds, hardly "slow" to me! I've gone through plenty of major life changes like graduating college, moving to a whole new part of the country/continent with a whole different climate and culture and starting grad school, yet newgrounds kept right up with me.

Introducing new icons and profile picture standards, tons of new games with medals and a lot of awesome stuff in the store! I love how there's kind of a rolling stock of things to buy. It's not just stickers and 3 shirts and when you do buy something you almost expect it to be limited run and now you have a piece of NG history on your mantle (unless the wife makes you relegate it to your computer desk because the mantle is for things like pictures of the nephews, our wedding or "real" artwork)

I wish that the Boston meetup had been a little better organized last time around or that I had time to attend the NYC meetup in 2010 while I was still in the Northeast. Attending Beerfest and the Montreal Meetup was a high point in my year. The first time I went to a NG meetup was in 2004 in Vancouver with some random users who happened to live there. Then I went to Montreal in 2008 and it was kickass. Everyone treated me nicely and I made some real friends. I only hope that there is a Miami, Orlando or Tampa, FL meetup I can attend in the future!

Lots of things have changed in the community as well. We have a new gaming platform to learn and people are really catching on to it. We have made a few changes to how the forums are moderated and I think everyone is able to have more fun.

2011 I would love to see some cool events like a "game jam" where people literally meet face-to-face for a weekend and produce games side-by-side. Tom once mentioned he wanted the NG office to be a place for local Flash gurus to get together and hash out projects or be able to go to each other's houses and do the same. If we had a "home brew" project thing where you could meet up with local programmers/artists/musicians and work together in person, that would produce some awesome content! No timezones to worry about, no missed Emails or ignored IMs.

here´s a thought of mine.
the ability to earn XP on the audio and art portals aswell.
so there wil be more incentive for people to vote on art and audio submissions, plus giving the people who are more active on those portals more power overall.

2010 was my first full year at NG, and I have to say it was great. Tons of great games and movies came out and some really good audio tracks were submitted(my personal favorite is Hania's song for AiD3). I really look forward to next year, especially more community teamwork and collabs which has worked well with Evil-Dog and SickDeathFiend. Also more recognition for audio artists will be great seeing as how a lot of artists are really good and should be noticed. In retrospect the less commercial and more community turn NG is taking will good to put those artists out there and allow more flash creators to more original. In all, I really hope next year is good(which, hey, why won't it be) and that those stupid advertisements would stop taking the bulk of the damn pages.

2010 was a great year, looking back. This year feels so long. A lot has changed, not all for the better. One of the biggest moments was definitely the Time magazine mention.
