Got hyped from the latest Smash Bros footage and wanted to try animating something dynamic, as I usually animate fairly static scenes. Let me know how it turned out.

Looks cool. I like the action. Some of the lines appear to be pretty rough, although that might be because it is still in the developing stages. I would suggest to smooth them out just a bit more and that might make the action more clear too.

Some color shading might be cool for the close ups of Link's face, to bridge the contrast between that and the all black shading. Also the green color might be a bit saturated.

Good experiments with motion,

Esty

Writing songs for cigarettes and credit would be cool.

I had started picking up animation a few years ago but stopped before I had really gotten anywhere. I'm in the process of scripting/researching/learning for an animation so I'm starting to retouch on some basics and practice stuff.

It's sloppy but here's a frame by frame...
clicky

I get the feeling the boiling effect (squiggly lines) was intentional but I do find it a bit distracting. Maybe lower it a bit by in-betweening more properly. If you didnt want that boiling effect, you could draw the head in one layer and just focus on animating the eyes in another layer. I find thicker lines are harder to in-between so I usually draw in 0.10 pt lines as a guide first and add the final effect later.

Back to more animating dude :)

I definitely agree about the in-betweening. I was going for kinda squiggly but this was a bit choppier than I had planned for. Paying more attention to placement/movement next time around will hopefully help on top of a few extra frames. Thanks for the input! :> I'll have to try the thinner guide lines like you suggested as well.

I made two short animations in succession, these are my first two attempts at animation, and would very much like to hear your thoughts

First which is a satire of the Disney show Phineas and Ferb:

Second that seeks to ridicule businessmen:

What do you think?

Adding arms and making him lift and lower them would give some more effect on his body language.

For the end I think it would be more entertaining to have the muscular man lift the heavy object on the top of his finger. But since this is just practicing...

Well, see that's the thing. The instructor said arms aren't allowed, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't.

As for the other, I originally planned for the tough guy to lift it above his head, then a lady walked through the frame and the tough guy drops it on the little guy to chase the girl. -But I ran out of time.

there's something missing to this eye opening can someone please point it out?

its missing an eyebrow in one frame.

This is just my take but it felt strange when you have the bottom of the eye lid moving so much. Maybe you can do a sudden move of the eye into a normal position within 1-2 frames and than slowly open its eyes.

You can check this out for example.

Not my best, but heres a quick animation I did of a bouncing ball.

I know the ball changes shape frame by frame, but it was just done so I could vent out some frustrations with pencil. Dang program crashes so much.

That is so kickassss ! The frog one, as you may know, kind of breaks down after a bit, but you still managed to catch the rhythm of the hop. Really noice work. and the pan flipping one is just amazing, cant stop staring at it. got me thinking pancakes !! haha
And hey Otto, the idea of animating on my phone is kinda making me geek , if you wouldnt mind sharing how i can do this myself thatd be appreciated .

Thankyou very much man! Yeah the frog was seriously hard to draw, I was using the nail of my thumb and I still couldn't get any real accuracy so I got very gestural after a while haha. Wish I thought of doing it again for pancake day!

Sure thing, do you have an android phone? You'll want an app called StickDraw. Don't be fooled by the shittiness of the app; it works really well and can export to gif.
