I made a Run cycle today, going towards the camera to get some good practice with depth and perspective. I wanted to see if I could get some of your guys opinions on it, since it's my first attempt.

That's pretty cool, could work really well in one of those shots where the terrain around him almost has a kind of fish eye effect, if you know what I mean.

Did this today
The proportions are a little off but what I mainly would like to know is how much people divide animation into layers when it comes to this kind of stuff? This particular one is all fbf.

not bad but for a fast walk its too stiff. Try giving the torsos a slight rotation as it moves forward and back. An example is when the right leg moves forward, the right side of the hip moves forward too. its the same effect for the top torso except to moves the opposite of the lower torso.

is this supposed to be a zoom because the boxes elongate which doesn't seem right. For these kind of camera movements I'd suggest using the vCam.

did this as practice and threw up because it came to some kind of finished product

Man, I haven't been here in a while. As soon as all these other experienced animators started showing up and helping other people out I kind of disappeared, sorry about that. I mainly started posting here again way back last year because it felt like there weren't that many people providing really good help, and now there are SO MANY :D

Anyways, small update: I am no longer working at Atomic Cartoons, and I'm now back at school in Capilano in Vancouver for animation. Great school. Wonderful school.

Here's one of the things I've been working on while at Capilano. It was done on TV Paint Pro in about 8 hours. We had two days to make it animate 3 actions, and I was unable to work on the first day. My actions were picking up a bottle from a table, swinging a golf club, and picking up a heavy weight.

My personal goal in this animation was to push each pose and movement as far as I could without actually breaking the movement. If you pause it every now and then you'll see a random pose that you couldn't possibly perform, but that adds to the movement quite nicely (if i do say so myself).

Anyways, i'll try to be a bit more active here, posting my three paragraph long explanations of why you should use the brush tool instead of the line tool or my five paragraph spiels about the beauty of animation. Expect to see me around here more!

And if i'm not around here more, blame school. It's always school.

So Tom and Johnny just created a tool for anyone who wants to practice lip syncing or would like a better idea of it.
it's called talk head. Anyone used it?

What do you think of mine? I spent the better part of an hour working on this, so mission accomplished I guess, I understand the tedium of lip syncing. But did I do it well? Please tell me!
Mine.
If the link doesn't work go to my file and "latest shared creations." and "prison rape full skit" Some of these things have a habit of not working.

I'm just a dreamer.

For class we were learning runs, so in my spare time I made a couple runs. One was a run cycle that goes on for infinity, and the other is a stick figure running from one side of the screen off into in the horizon.

I didn't do the turn very well but i'm very happy with the infinite run cycle.

pretty good lip syncing, I'd suggest maybe adding in some facial expressions aswell, have the eyes change volume etc.

Here's a simple "splat" test that I was playing with

if it is supposed to drive slow make the movement slower. Think about how much ground the wheels cover

yeah, think of what the wheel size is. if it's diameter is say 17 pixels, it has a circumference of 53pixels~

when you break it down to pixels, for every rotation of the tire, the car should move forward 53 pixels, or else you get the sliding effect that you have here.
